A Special Thought...

So, I've been able to get some cards done lately which is amazing since my son is always demanding my attention.  :-)  Today I brought some stuff down to the kitchen to make a card.  I had this vision in my head and it needed to get out!  It all started with the current Muse challenge.  I just love the card that Deanna Jean made.  It really made me think of spring and summer and right now I'm really wanting winter to be over.  :-)  Here's her card...

Wouldn't you just love to get that in the mail?  Anyway, I had an anniversary card to make for my in-laws and thought I would give the idea in my head a go.  Here's my card...

This involved some stamping in white StazOn with the flower stamp then sponging over top the burgundy and rust dye ink.  Then stamping the flower in the two colours overtop.  Then I stamped the sentiment in black.  The flourish is underneath just to add a hint of green.  Layered the stamped panel on some rust paper and attached it with 3D dots.  I think it turned out pretty good.

Anyway, that's all for now.  Have a fabulous day!

Supplies:  Stamps all by Inkadinkado.  Dye Ink:  Razzleberry, Dusty Durango, Mellow Moss by Stampin' Up!  StazOn Ink: Jet Black and White.  Cardstock:  white by Recollections, and rust by Bazill Basics.

Jingle all the way.....

Hello everyone!  Going to keep this post short and sweet today.  I'm sharing a card I made for the current challenge going on at Festive Fridays.  You know I can't resist making a Christmas card and I found the inspiration picture very....well, inspiring.  :-)  Here's the challenge picture.

Love that place setting!  Just gorgeous.  Here's my card....

Anyway, this card design just popped into my head and it took me a few days to complete but I love how it turned out.  I cut the card base using my circle cutter and using a dark brown marker, I free hand drew the jingle bell holes.  Using my Noel design card and my Slice die cutter I cut the holly leaves, twigs and flourish.  I stamped the dot flourish (Inkadinkado) using versamark ink.  Sentiment (Studio G) was stamped in Olive StazOn ink.  I then added a bow and some pearls and a snowflake embellishment.

Hope you like it .  Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

A Journey into ATCs

Today I thought I would share with you my adventure into making ATCs for the first time.  I previously posted one of them a couple of weeks ago (see here) but wanted to share the rest with you.  ATCs are new to me and I struggled a bit with them.  Part of it was the size.  2 1/2" by 3 1/2" is pretty small.  But I persisted and what I came up with I actually quite liked.  Anyway here they are....

"Time Flies"

"Beauty"

"Seek Joy"

"Warm Wishes"

Not sure if I'll do any more or not.  They were fun but I do so enjoy making my regular cards.  In any case, I hope you enjoyed looking!  Have a fabulous day!

Supplies:  since there are a lot of supplies to list I'm just going to stick to what stamps I used. :-) if you are wondering what some of the other supplies are just leave me a note and I'll get back to you.

"Time flies" ATC:  flower background stamp- K5346 flower burst by Hero Arts, sentiment (Time Flies) by Stampology.
"Beauty" ATC:  background stamp-S5141 Four Leaf Grid by Hero Arts, tree stamp-from Utopiary set by Inkadinkado, Chinese character "beauty" unknown.
"Seek Joy" ATC:  flower- H5489 butterfly flowers by Hero Arts, "Seek Joy" sentiment by Stampology.
"Warm Wishes" ATC:  winter town-K5537 by Hero Arts, sentiment-from Flurry set by Technique Tuesday.

Have a Rockin' Birthday.

Hi!  Don't you hate making cards for the men in your life.  Some of them are just so hard to do.  It's my brother-in-laws birthday next week so I needed a card that was "cool".  I decided to create in a CAS style since I've been trending that way anyway.  I think he'll like it.

I used some circle like stamps and a cool mini "rock on" border stamp to create the patterned strip.  Sponged some black ink very lightly over top it all.  Cut some black paper with a v cut in one end and added a chevron brad.  Cut another strip of white paper and stamped sentiment and attached both to card.  Voila!  I am really digging the colours I used.  Think it looks pretty masculine.

Well, that's all for now.  Have a fabulous day!

Supplies:  stamps:  (sentiment) Kolette Hall, (circles) Stampology, (rock on border) Studio G, ink: (black, grey) StazOn, (blue/gray, green) Studio G, paper:  (black, white) Recollections,  chevron brad by Dear Lizzy Neopolitan collection.

Card Chain Challenge

Realized I didn't get this posted yet.  Oops.  I made this for SOS blog for this months CCC.  I tried the three colour palette to make my card.  I used my Dear Lizzy Neopolitan collection from my recent win at the PC Mag.  What do you think?

Anyway, hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Sweet Sunshine

Hi!  Just a quick post.  I wanted to share the card I made for my husband for Valentine's day.  I'm going to enter it in Red Carpet Studio's Challenge which is to include a heart in your card.  I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out.

I used some Dear Lizzy Neopolitan collection paper from my Paper Crafts Mag win and cut out the "snap shots".  I stamped the dot flourish from Inkadinkado in dove gray StazOn behind the snap shots and stamped the sentiment ($1.50 bin at Michaels) in same dove gray.  On the inside I put my hubby's favourite bunny stamp.  LOL.

Well, that's it for now.  Have a fabulous weekend!

Birthday Fairy

It's been too long since I posted last.  With my son no longer napping I'm finding it hard to get away to my craft area.  :-(.  Oh well.  I did manage to get crafty last night and I completed one card for my sister-in-laws birthday and started another.  The second one isn't going well and it may end up being scrapped and I'll start over.  The birthday card turned out pretty good I think.

She loves fairies so, of course, I used one.  :-). I coloured her in with my Spectrum Noir markers and the fussy cut her out.  Fussy is right.  Almost too fussy.  To make the background I stamped my grass and coneflowers with versamark ink and embossed in clear.  Then sponged the yellow, pink and green.  Next I stamped the grass and coneflowers in yellow sponged with some pink.  Then the sentiment at the bottom.  Layered some green paper and attached to white card base.

I'm entering this into the MUSE challenge this week.  I was inspired by the card a little bit in my colours used (well, the green anyway.  There is a bit of purple too in the fairy wings) and a little bit in the layout.  This will be the first card I'm entering for this new challenge blog.  I've been following along but just couldn't find the time to get a card done.  :-)
Here's the inspiration card:

I think I will try and fix my other card or redo it sometime today.  Hopefully I'll get the chance.  :-).  I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Supplies:  stamps:  (fairy) Kolette Hall,  (grass and coneflower) Stampin' Up!, (sentiment) Recollections, paper:  (white) Recollections, (green) Dear Lizzy, ink:  (yellow) Marvy, (pink) unknown, (green) Stampin' Up!, (black) StazOn, markers are Spectrum Noir.

Can You Put Glitter on a Masculine Card?

Oh yes, you can!  Now, you can't get carried away though.  Must restrain yourself.  :-).  LOL.  I needed to make a birthday card for my brother and I really liked how my R2-D2 card for my son turned out I decided to make one for my brother.  Since he's a big Star Wars geek too, I think he'll like it.

Same clipart image of R2-D2, just a different card design.  I quite like this one too.  Hey, I wonder if I could come up with a Star Wars Christmas card?  LOL.  I digress.  Anyway, as you can see there is glitter on the card.  Not to much but I think it works.

I used up some old scraps of paper I had too so no idea who made them.  Once again R2 is coloured with both Crayola and Spectrum Noir markers and some silver pens.  Added some buttons and that was it.

So, who's your favourite Star Wars character?  Or are you one of the few that haven't seen the movies?  Shame on you!  Oops, sorry.  LOL.  ;-).   Well, I'm done for now.  Have a fabulous day!

So sorry!

It came to my attention that I had word verification on and I hadn't even realized it was!  I sincerely apologize!  I hate word verification and had I known would have turned it off long ago.  I believe it's been turned off now.  Let me know if its still there and I'll try to fix it again.  Thanks to everyone who  put up with it and left comments anyway!  :-)

Holiday Joy

It's my second post today, I know, but I needed to get this card up to make it in time for two challenges.  Some of you may not know this but I LOVE making Christmas cards.  I make them all year long.  So, I was excited to discover two challenge blogs that are all about making Christmas cards.  I'm linking up this card to these two challenges.  The first is Jingle Belles:  Ho Ho H2O challenge:  create a holiday card which features icicles, snow, frozen ponds, or any water-related imageOR use water-based products.  The second challenge is Festive Fridays.  They had a colour theme of white, silver and red.  Well, here it is.....

I had some trouble with this card but managed to fix it up alright.  I really need to get a new winter tree stamp or two.  I know that Hero Arts has some that are nice.  Hmmm, my birthday is coming up. ;-).   So, how I did this was stamped the tree stamps and then embossed in silver.  Cut some card stock for the hills and put some glitter on them.  I stamped the deer before the glitter.  The deer is actually a smaller part of a larger stamp from Inkadinkado's Utopiary set.  The sentiment from HA was stamped then layered everything on the red paper then the card base.  I think it turned out okay.

Well, better get this linked up.  Have a fabulous day!

Say What R2?

So, in my previous post I mentioned it was my son's birthday this weekend.  I finally got his card made today.  And yes, it is Star Wars themed.  What else could it be? :-)  Anyway, I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out.  Take a look:

He's going to love it.  R2-D2 is one of his favourite characters.  He's one of my favs too.  Come on, you can't help but love him.  Yes, I'm a big geek.  :-D. I love Star Wars and I don't care who knows it!  LOL.

So, I'm going to enter this into the two following challenges:

CAS(E) This Sketch.

And CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Love Letters.  Use letters creatively in your CAS project - die cuts, alpha stamps or stickers etc.

So, this card is pretty straight forward.  I printed off the R2-D2 image from some free clipart site I found and coloured it with a combination of Crayola and Spectrum Noir Markers then fussy cut it out.  The strip of paper was just white card stock with dye based blue ink and water spritzed on it.  Also some watered down silver paint.  I inked the edges with the blue ink as well.  I used some K & Company letter stickers for the "sentiment".  The happy birthday is from Stampin' Up!  and I just added the brackets with a black marker.

Well, that's all I've got for now.  Hope you all have a fabulous day!

May The Force Be With You

So, next weekend is my son's fifth birthday.  Where does the time go?  We are having his first real birthday party at a place that has a playclimber and games and such.  He's quite excited.  He is obsessed with the Star Wars movies and wanted that as his theme for the party.  I got all kinds of neat Star Wars stuff from our local Scoop & Save.  I made his invitations though (of course).  I thought I would share them with you.

What do you think?  I also made these fun light saber utensil/napkin holders.

Saw this idea online and thought it was so neat.  I plan to make some balloon weights but not sure what kind of Star Wars image I could do.  Any ideas?  Anyway, I'm sure I'll figure something out.

That's it for today.  Hoping to get a chance to do something fun in my craft room later.  Hope you all have a fabulous day!
