Christmas Joy

So, I finally got a chance to make a Christmas card yesterday for the current challenges going on over at Festive Friday and Jingle Belles.  Jingles Belles theme is "red" and here's FF's inspiration picture.

So lovely, isn't it?  These two challenges seemed to go hand in hand.  I love it when that happens!  :-). Anyway, here's my card...

I obviously used red a fair amount and I picked out the snowflakes from FF's picture too.  I first cut my partial circle and then stamped my snowflake (it came from Michaels many years ago) with white StazOn ink.  Then I sponged Ruby Red (SU!) ink overtop.  I cut a strip of paper with all the Christmas words (Recollections from their Home for the Holidays paper pack) and attached to my white card base.  I added some ribbon (from Michaels) along one side then attached my circle.  The snowflakes are from Dollarama, of all places.  They are clear and I sponged some white StazOn ink to make them show up a bit more.  Added some green rhinstones and adhered them on.  Lastly I added my "Joy" with glitter stickers by Dear Lizzy from the Neapolitan collection.  There is some gold foiled words on the paper I used which is hard to see but you get a better look in the detail photo.

Well, that's all for me for now.  Thanks for visiting and have a lovely day!

Super Birthday

So, here's the other card I made for a little boy for his birthday.  My son's friend from school had a party this weekend and he likes Ironman.  Well, I don't have any Ironman stamps (do they even make one?) but that doesn't stop me.  :-)  I found a free colouring page and printed it out in the size I wanted and set to colouring with my Spectrum Noir markers. (DR2, DR4, CT4, GB7, TB1, TB4, True Black)

When I printed it out I had added some text first so the sentiment is computer generated.  I matted it on black and then attached to a white base.

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Seize the Birthday - no toppings this time.
CAS on Sunday - make a masculine card.
Spectrum Noir challenge - masculine card.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  :-)

Out of This World Birthday

Today I have a card to share that I made for a friend's son for his birthday.  We attended his 3rd birthday party this weekend.  I love making little boy cards.  They are loads of fun.  Anyway, here it is...

I used stamps from a set that I "think" is by Inkadinkado.  It's really a great little boy set.  Robots, animals, rocket ships, cars, boats.  Tons of great stamps in a super cute style.  Anyway, all I did was stamp the sentiment first which was made up out of two different stamps.  Both are from the same set from Scrappy cat.  I then took some white foam Thickers and colored them blue and made the little boy's name.  Then I stamped my boy stamps in black all around the edges.  I decided to colour just the robot image.  I used my Spectrum Noir markers.  (BGR1, BGR3, DR2, IB3, BT8, True Black, Blender)  I attached my panel to a bright blue card base.

I think it turned out very cute.  :-)

I'm going to link this up to Seize the Birthday challenge but with no "toppings" this time (which was hearts I believe).  Also going to link up to Spectrum Noir challenge where they want a masculine card.

Well, that's all for this card.  I've got another one to share but that will be a separate post.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Sunshine

Well, its a lovely sunny day outside today but still a bit chilly and windy.  However, I'll take that over the MASSIVE snowfall we had this weekend.  I think it's the most snow we've had in one storm all winter.  It was snowing, freezing rain, raining then a whole lot more snow which made road conditions terrible.  It was a little weird since its started on Friday and they cancelled school.  Then on Saturday it was okay for most of the day which was good as we had to get our grocery shopping done.  Then Saturday evening it started snowing and didn't stop until Sunday morning.  It was also super windy which created huge drifts everywhere.  Our neighbour who plows our driveway almost didn't get through one of the biggest drifts.  With his TRACTOR!  Oh I am so done with winter!  Unfortunately, it's not quite done with us as there is more snow on the menu for this week.  Yuck.  So, why don't I share a happy sunny card with you today to take our minds off the snow?  :-)

I made this card using two digi stamps from Paper Smooches.  I love that smiley sun!  Once I had it arranged the way I wanted it and printed it off I coloured it in with my Spectrum Noir markers (CT1, CT3, CT4, GB5).  I made a paper mask of the sun and then stamped my striped cloud so it appeared to be behind the sun.  The cloud stamps come from Studio G.  They are stamped in a grey blue pigment ink also from Studio G.  I layered my panel on some yellow cardstock then attached this to my white card base with some foam dots.  This could be used for a birthday card or thinking of you or even a thank you.

I'm linking this up to the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge this week which is an "Anything Goes" theme.

I'm going to link up to STAMPlorations as well.  They have a great sketch challenge going on right now.  I flipped the sketch upside down and changed where the sentiment went but that's it really.

I'm going to link up to Addicted to Stamps and More as well and their "Make Your Mark" challenge.  You need to use markers or something like that to colour with.

Well, I've got to go and figure out a birthday card for a friend of Donovan's from school.  He goes to his birthday party this Saturday.  He likes superheroes so I'm thinking along those lines right now.  I love making boy cards!  :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment (or becoming a new follower!).  I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Something Different, the last chapter

So, I'm going to share the last 7 photos of my Mom's scrapbook.  Rather than do two posts with a few photos each I thought I'd just get the rest posted.  It's only 7 pictures so it's not too bad.  :-)  Anyway, here they are....

Well, that's all of it.  It was fun to do especially since it was for my Mom (and really for my Dad too).  :-)  Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Love Gives You Wings

Here I am, back again.  This is the other card I made this morning.  It was inspired by Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge.

This is the inspiration photo for the challenge.

So, I was inspired by the heart and the pink and gold.  I used two of their free digis.  The hearts and the feathers.  I coloured the hearts with my a Spectrum Noir markers and cut them out.  I decided to incorporate the gold in the form of the arrow going through the hearts.  There is one in the original but it's hidden by the one I made out of gold wire.  I added a little extra touch to the end in the form of the fletching which is made from a real piece of feather.  :-).  I printed off two of the feathers and fussy cut them out and then glittered them up (dazzling diamonds glitter by SU!).  I took a panel of white cardstock and embossed it with my interlocking circle folder (Darice).  I attached my feathers and then my hearts (the hearts are raised with foam dots) to my embossed panel and then attached that to my white card base with some foam dots.  I think this turned out pretty well.

I'm going to link up to Addicted to CAS as well where there code word is "love".

That's all she wrote for today!  Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Butterfly Joy

I seem to be on a card making frenzy (at least it's a frenzy for me) lately.  I've made 4 cards in the past two days.  That almost never happens!!  So many great challenges out there inspiring is what I suspect is the cause.  Today's card was made to bulk up my stash of birthday cards.  I also had a few challenges in mind.  I really wanted to participate in the current Hero Arts blog challenge going on.  And I really wanted to use this butterfly stamp by HA that I won a few months ago and had yet to ink up.  So, I came up with this...

(This would fall under the category of "anything goes birthday" for the HA challenge.)

I love this stamp (H5426).  So much fun to colour too!  I used my Spectrum Noir markers to colour it in and then I fussy cut it out.  I took a white card base and stamped the butterfly several times in black along one side.  Then I stamped the sentiment in black.  This is actually made up of two different sentiment stamps.  One is a Christmas one by HA from their Joy to All set (CL460). I just masked out the word "holiday".  Then I took a sentiment from Scrappy Cat and did the same thing.  I masked out the "wishes" to just stamp the birthday part.  I love making my own sentiments this way.  :-). I attached the coloured butterfly, curling the edges a bit to give it some dimension.  Then I added a few sequins from Neat and Tangled.  I got them free with my stamp order.  Wasn't that nice?  I love how this turned out.

I'm also going to link this up to these challenges too:

Addicted to Stamps and More - the challenge is "Make Your Mark", have to use markers and such to colour something.
CAS-ology - cue word is "bold".
Fusion Card Challenge - here's the sketch/inspiration photo.  Obviously, I didn't use the sketch.

I have another card to share but that will be a separate post.  Maybe it'll be another twofer day!  Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Loving You

Another card to share today!  Two in one day!  Imagine that.  I don't make a lot of Valentine's day cards but I wanted to participate in a couple of challenges plus I needed a card for my husband.  :-)

So using the large circle stamp again (Neat and Tangled, Party Dots set). I stamp in red pigment which turned out quite pink looking.  It was okay and I just ran with it.  I stamped the banner from the same set in black and used part of a sentiment from a Heidi Grace set.  I fussy cut the banner out and used some foam dots to adhere it over the bottom edge of my stamped circle.  I took a satin puffy heart and adhered it above the banner on top of the stamped circle.  I took my panel and mounted it with foam dots to my card base.

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS - code word "Love".
Little Tangles - challenge theme is "celebrate love".
CAS-ology - cue word "bold".

Thanks for stopping by again and have a great day!

Masculine Birthday

Today's card was made for my BIL's birthday.  I broke out my new Neat and Tangled stamps again to make it.

I used the large "bubbly" circle stamp from the Party Dots set and stamped it in a few different colours (dove gray by StazOn, midnight and olive by Color Box) along the edge.  I love how the colours overlap.  Then I stamped my sentiment (Scrappy Cat) in black.  Very quick and simple.  A nice one layer too.

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

CAS-ology - cue word is "bold".
Less Is More - it's one layer week!

So, it looks like I might be finally getting the cold everyone else has had recently.  I fought it off for a long time but I'm very congested right now and it doesn't feel like allergies.  Sigh.  I'm hoping I won't get it too bad.  I hate being sick.  Who does?! In any case, lots of fluids and rest coming my way!  :-).

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a super day!

Awesome, You Are

So, my son's birthday party went really well.  I have yet to get the photos edited so I will have to share them later.  All the kids seemed to have fun so that's good. :-). Donovan had a blast and that's the important part.  :-)

Anyway, I have a birthday card to share today that I made for my son.  Just like last years, it's a Star Wars theme.  This time I did Yoda.

I found a free colouring page (you can find it HERE) that I printed off and coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Of course, I realized later that it's not quite accurate.  I switched the robe colours.  The outer robe is supposed to be lighter than the inner one.  Oh well, still looks good I think.  :-). The sentiment is by Neat and Tangled from their "On the Corner" set.  I just put together the three words to make it what I wanted.  I raised up the Yoda picture with some foam dots.  I'm making some Yoda themed Valentine's Day cards for him for his class too.  They are going to be kind of fun and I'll be sure to share with you all when they are done.

I'm going to link this card up to CAS(E) This Sketch.  It's been a while since I played and I'm glad I got to this time.  Here's the awesome sketch.

Great isn't it?

Anyway, that's all I've got to share today.  Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Something a Little Different, Continued....

Here's the next installment from my Mom's wedding scrapbook.  I've got four pages to share today.

Hope you liked them.  On another note, I'm sure you've noticed the change in the look of my blog.  What do you think?  Just thought it looked cleaner this way.  Even my blog is CAS!  LOL.  It's funny though, I noticed when I was on the laptop today that my background wasn't plain it was a picture which I didn't want.  Yet on the iPad it was just plain light grey.  Weird.  I changed it on the laptop so hopefully it's all fixed now.  :-). And tomorrow is the big birthday party for my son.  Lots of his classmates are coming so it should be a good time.  I'll take pictures of all the decorations I did and share them with you all later next week.

Well, that's all for now!  Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Festive Friday Challenge

So, I managed to carve out some time this morning to make a card for the current Festive Friday challenge.  I've been so busy preparing for my son's birthday party this weekend that I haven't had much time to make any cards.  This week their inspiration photo was very silver and gold.

Just a touch of a cranberry colour there too.  I decided to use these colors and focus on the snowflake (like the one on the ornament) for my card.

I used some washi tape I've had for some time but never used (I think it's from K & Company).  As my blogger friend, Darnell (of djkardkreations), would say I've used some NBUS here.  "Never-Before-Used-Schtuff".  Got lots of that!  LOL.  Anyway, I used the Hero Arts dotted snowflake stamp and stamped in dove gray (StazOn), Razzleberry (SU!) and gold (Color Box). I embossed the gold as well to make it stand out more.  Now my washi tape was originally too wide for my taste so I trimmed it down some.  As for the rest of the card it came about because I messed up stamping my sentiment(by Hero Arts, Joy to All set).  I had to fussy cut around the snowflakes to get rid of my boo-boo and inserted a piece of silver paper topped off by a white panel that I stamped my sentiment on. This time not messing it up.  Not quite as CAS as originally intended but I still like it.  :-)

Anyway, that's it for today.  Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Something a Little Different...

So, I have something a little bit different to share with you today.  Now I'm not much of a scrapbooker, but I have made a few.  One for my wedding, one for my honeymoon and I did start one for my son that I'm woefully behind on.  Like he's almost 6 and I've done 3 pages.  Sigh.  Scrapbooking is just not my thing, really.  I just prefer to make cards.  I admire those who make scrapbook after scrapbook cherishing those memories with something beautiful.  However, I recently dived back into the scrapbooking world when I decided to make a scrapbook of my parent's wedding photos for my Mom for Christmas.  She had them in this old photo album where they were all falling out cause the adhesive had dried up.  So, I enlisted the help of my Dad, who snuck into where she keeps the albums, stole it out of the bin, and mailed it off to me.  :-). Lucky that she doesn't go in that bin very often.  Anyway, after a couple months of hard work I got it done in time for Christmas.  I was busy with many other things at the time which is why it took me so long to finish.  Over the next few days, I'm going to share a pictures of the scrapbook I made, a few pictures at a time.  It's 14 pages long and I figured it would be too picture heavy of a post otherwise.  So, here are the first three pictures.  These should be in order as they are in the book too.

So, what do you think?  I'm very happy with these pages and the overall results of the book.  Although I don't think I'll be doing anymore scrapbooking for a while.  LOL.  :-). As for what my Mom thought of it?  She cried.  Happy tears.  Every few years I like to surprise her with a gift that makes her cry.  LOL.  At first she thought it was a scrapbook of my wedding pictures but then she opened the book up and was so surprised!  :-). It was a great Christmas.

Anyway, thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day!

You Rock Birthday

Hey everyone!  I have a card to share today that I made for my brother for his birthday.  He plays the guitar and I got this new guitar stamp recently.  So, I figured this would be the perfect stamp for his card.

The guitar stamp is by Inkadinkado.  The ink splashes are by Neat and Tangled.  The sentiment is by Studio G.  I tried the inlaid die cut technique for the first time with the star shape.  The patterned paper is by DCWV from the Tradewinds paper pad.  Before I adhered my star into the space in the card base I stamped the ink splash in black.  Then I attached my inlaid star and stamped the guitar in black.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in versamark and embossed in white.

I'm going to link this up to Seize The Birthday's challenge which is to make a birthday card (obviously) with the option of using chevrons.  The patterned paper of the star has some.

Well, thanks for stopping by and hope you have an awesome day!
