New Inkspirational Challenge

Hi everyone!  It's that time again for another Inkspirational challenge.  This time it's an inspiration picture and what a great picture it is!  So many possibilities.  Check it out!

Fabulous isn't it?  I love peacocks.  Those tail feathers are so gorgeous.  Looking at this picture made me remember the extra peacock feathers I had and I was determined to use them in my card.  I loved the Art Deco feel of the picture too so I ran with that idea as well.  Take a look at my card...

I'm very happy with the results of this card.  I used a interlocking circle embossing folder (Darice) for my background panel.  Then I added a strip of patterned paper matted with some black.  I printed off the sentiment using Microsoft Word and used the font called Broadway.  I trimmed it down and attached it to the strip.  Then I added a piece of old costume jewelry and a peacock feather.  I just love the colours of that feather!

I hope you will all join in on the fun.  I look forward to seeing all your amazing creations.  We have a wonderful guest designer as well.  Pauline of Crafting with Cotnob.  She made a gorgeous card and you should definitely stop by and give her some love!  Her colouring is amazing!  Check out the other Inkspirational DT members projects too. They are all fantastic!

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Festive Friday #38

Just wanted to post this quick to join in Festive Friday's challenge #38.  It's a great inspiration photo as usual.  And as I missed playing along in the last challenge due to holidays I was determined not to miss this one!  Here's the inspiration picture...

And here's my card...

I went with the tree and woodgrain and the rustic feel to the picture.  I stamped the large dotted circle (from Party Dots set by Nest and Tangled) in blue then stamped my jar (American crafts) over top.  The dots look like snow, don't they?  I fussy cut the jar out.   I made some snow hills and a tree with card stock and stamped a snowflake (Recollections) pattern on the tree.  I added a sequin star (Darice) to the top of the tree.  I added some glitter to the hills though it's hard to see.  I coloured the jar lid with my Spectrum Noir markers and then added some twine.  I cut a panel of woodgrain paper (DCWV) and attached it to my white card base.  I adhered my snow globe jar with some foam dots.  I stamped the banner sentiment (Recollections) on kraft paper and embossed in white.  I fussy cut it out and attached with foam dots.

Well, I better get this posted.  Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Christmas Truckin'

Hello everyone!  I am trying to get back into posting and card making since coming back from holidays.  We had such a good time in PEI it was hard to leave.  :-).  I mean take a look at some of these photos!

(my son loves the ocean)

It was so great seeing my brother and his family along with my parents again.  Hoping it will become a tradition.  :-).

Anyway, I've got a card to share today that I had started before I went on holidays but never got done.  It was supposed to be for Festive Friday Christmas challenge but I just ran out of time.  :-(. I missed a challenge and I might miss the next one if I don't get a chance to make anything today.  I was doing so well too!  Ah well, that's life.  In any case, I wanted to share it with you all.  Take a look...

So I used my Stampin' Up! truck stamp but masked out the baskets of apples in the truck bed and the "apples for sale" sign on the back.  I coloured it in with my Spectrum Noir markers and then filled the bed of the truck with some dimensional snow.  I added some snow to the ground as well to obscure the grass.  I matted it on some red paper and attached it to my card base.  I stamped my sentiment (Stampabilities) in black.  I love how it turned out.  I do want to mention that you need to be careful adding the snow near the coloured parts.  The marker will tend to bleed into the snow, especially the red.  I just added more over top after it dried to cover any bleeding.  :-)

I'd like to take a moment to welcome a new follower too.  A warm welcome to Karen M. of Made By Meadie.  She's from Tasmania, Australia and has been blogging since 2011.  She is a gifted card artist has made some truly beautiful cards.  You should definitely stop by her blog for a visit.  :-)

Well, I think that's all for now.  Hope you have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Nonni!

There's a little surprise party going on in blog land for our friend Nonni of Korttikarkuri.  It's her birthday today and a bunch of us made her some cards to wish her all the best!  Here's mine...

I used a brand new stamp set that I won from CAS-ual Fridays to make my card.  I did an ombre effect which turned out on my first go.  I've not done much of this with stamping so I was glad it worked out the first try.  :-). It must have been because it was for you Nonni!

Well, I hope you have a super lovely day and you get lots of crafty goodies for your birthday!

If you want to join in on the party for Nonni go visit Sandie over at London Days and there's a link up there.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Birthday Butterfly

Just a quick post so I can squeak into a couple of challenges before they end.  I made this card for my friends birthday.  I love how it turned out! Take a look...

I embossed a small piece of white card stock with my Chevron embossing folder (Darice) and mounted it to my white card base with foam dots.  I stamped my butterfly (Stampendous) in black then coloured it randomly with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I added some fine brass wire antennae and used glossy accents to attach them.  I applied a thin layer of diamond ice stickles to the butterfly. I stamped my sentiment (Stampabilities) in black and then glued my butterfly down using glossy accents again.  I added some sequins (Neat and Tangled) randomly around.

I'm linking up to the following challenges :

CAS-ual Fridays - it's a tic-tac-toe this month.

I went with chevron, black, and sequins.

Addicted to Stamps and More - make a CAS card.

Guest Designing for STAMPlorations

Hello everyone!  Recently I was asked to guest design for STAMPlorations Sketch Challenge #17.  I most happliy accepted.  They have a really great sketch for this challenge too.  Take a look...

So many ideas came to mind.  I broke out the Ecletic Florals set by STAMPlorations and got to work.  Here's what I came up with...

I made some masks using the flower stamps and stamped my flowers into an arrangement using lime and aqua ink (ColorBox).  I stamped the jar in black then shaded it using TB1 Spectrum Noir marker and blender pen.  I added a bit of glitter to the aqua flowers.  I cut a panel of aqua cardstock to layer underneath my main image panel and added some lime green plaid washi tape.  I stamped my sentiment (Stampabilities) in black.  Love this colour combo.  So bright and fresh!

I hope that you will all join in on the fun for this sketch challenge.  You really need to check out the DTs cards too.  They are fabulous!

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

The Card Concept - a lovely colour combo challenge.  My card would fall under clean and simple.

Addicted to Stamps and More - anything goes
TIME OUT challenges - celebrations (there's an optional twist of using a butterfly but I decided not to)

I've got a new follower to welcome today.  Please be sure to go and visit, Sid, of Harpies Crafty Corner.  Welcome Sid!  Sid has been blogging for quite some time and has some amazing crafty projects to share.  :-)

Well, I mentioned in a previous post that this month marks my second year of blogging.  I was going to do something special this month but it's been so busy that I haven't been able to arrange it.  So, since we go on holidays in about a week and a half I'm going to postpone the celebration until after we get back.  I want to do it properly.  So, stay tuned for some fun!  :-)

I hope you all have a fabulous day and thanks for visiting!

Inkspirational Challenge - Use Markers or Pencils

A new challenge over at Inkspirational is happening!  This time it was a designer's choice and Nonni chose to use markers or pencils.  Well, I'm all for using my Spectrum Noir markers so I was very pleased with her choice.  :-). Check out my card...

My colouring is a little different from my norm. I lean towards brighter or jewel tones but decided to go more pastel.  I took a NBUS (never-before-used-schtuff) stamp which is the flowers by Inkadinkado.  It's actually a bouquet but I only stamped part of it.  I stamped it three times and then stamped my sentiment (also Inkadinkado).  Then I coloured away!  I added a bit of glitter and called it done.  I hope all of you will join in on the fun with this challenge.  :-)

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - anything goes
TIME OUT Challenges - celebrations (optional twist of using a butterfly)

Hope you all have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by!
