OLCCC #12 - Still Time to Play!

Just wanted to get a quick post out to let you all know there's still time to play along with the current challenge over at One Layer Christmas Card Challenge.  It's actually a three week challenge this time so you have until July 6th to link up.  As always it's anything goes with an optional twist of green.  I have a card to share to try to inspire you to join in.  Take a look...

I stamped my pine boughs (Clearly Besotted) in mowed lawn and forest moss Distress ink.  I inked up the stamp first then lightly spritzed it with water before stamping.  Then I stamped my pinecones (Clearly Besotted) in walnut stain Distress ink.  I added some white to the pinecone with a gel pen then added Wink of Stella to the pine cones and the pine boughs.  I stamped the sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.

Hope to see you all join in on the fun!  Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

I fussy cut them out and attached them to my panel raising one of them with foam dots.  Lastly, I attached my panel to my card base with foam dots.

STAMPlorations Inspiration Roundup

Time is running out to link up to June's CASEplorations Playground!  You have until July 5th to link up.  You can CASE my card or one of my fellow Design Teammates cards or you can CASE the awesome Virginia's card from THIS POST.  Or any of the cards the DT made from inspiration posts #21, #22, #23 or #24.  It's up to you!  If you do, you have a chance to win a prize!  So, here's my card and I hope it inspires you to play along.

I first taped off two thirds of my card base. I used the Leaf Prints stencil by sponging the following Memento ink colours;  Elderberry, Teal Zeal, Grey Flannel, Nautical Blue.  I offset each time to create interest.  I then removed the tape and using tape again, I created a narrow strip which I sponged black Memento ink.  I stamped the sentiment (Bloom Sketches Set) in black and I added the Dad using some letter stickers.

I do hope you'll play along with us.  Have a fantastic day and thanks for dropping by!

STAMPlorations Birthday Blog Hop - Day 1

It's time!  It's time!

With Guest designer: AMY TSURUTA

There's a lot of celebrating going on over at STAMPlorations for its second birthday!  We'd love it if you'd join us too!  The STAMPlorations team has all been busy making fabulous projects to inspire you.  We've been playing with the new party themed sets.  So for the next five days be ready to have fun!  Here's my project for today...

So, I first stamped my girl with black Memento ink and then created a mask and covered her up.  Then I masked off a section for my sentiments.  I stamped my sentiments using Hero Arts blue ombré ink.  I removed the mask for the sentiment section and created two more for my narrow borders above and below my sentiments. Using the same blue ombré ink I sponged the colours on to create an ombré look.  I removed all the masks and coloured in my girl using my Spectrum Noir markers.  I left the dress white and filled it in with my Wink of Stella pen.  Did the same for the shoes.  I even managed to capture the lovely glitter on camera!  Love how this one layer card turned out.  Aren't these great stamps?!
So, if you want to have a chance to win some prizes you can comment along the hop and/or you can link up your birthday/party themed creations over at the blog.

Sailing Away

Hi there!  Today I've got a card to share that I had made for my FIL for Father's Day.  I was a bit late making it but it's the thought that counts right?  :-).  I have to point out that I was inspired to CASE a card that Karolyn Loncon made.  It was so nice I wanted to try something similar.  Here's my card...

First, I cut a circle out with my circle cutter and used it as a stencil, sponging on orange and yellow distress inks and Ruby Red SU! Ink.  Then I stamped my sailboat ink black. Now this sailboat stamp is actually not solid but mostly an outline. I wanted it to be like a silhouette but didn't have a boat silhouette stamp.  So after I stamped this I coloured it in with my black marker.  Then I made the water using my Spectrum Noir markers (BT1, BT2, BT4).  Then I stamped my sentiment (retired SU!) in black.  Another quick and simple one layer.  :-)

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great weekend!

I'd like to link up to the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS - code word is Splash
CAS-ology - cue card is Nautical
Uniko Studio - anything goes with twist of masculine

STAMPlorations Inspiration #24

Hi everyone!  It's time again to try and inspire you!  Over at STAMPlorations the Inspiration Design Team has come up with some more fabulous cards to try and entice you to create!  If you want join in on the CASEplorations you could CASE our GD, Virginia Lu's card.  Or if you'd like you can CASE one of our cards from today's post or from the Inspiration posts #21#22 or #23. Whichever way you'd like to play you can link up your cards and have a chance to win some prizes!  Here's my card...

For today's card I'm using one if the new sets designed by fellow teammate, Deepti.  It's called Blooming Buds.  It's a gorgeous set.  So, I first created a mask of one of the flowers and taped off a section on a beige card base.  Using my flower mask, I stamped my flowers in black ink (Memento).  Then I removed the tape and masked off the flowers so I could sponge black ink on the one side.  It looks like a black piece of paper but it's actually ink.  This is a one layer card.  I then tied some gold thread around my card and decided to forgo a sentiment.  I love how you can created the illusion of layers with ink.

So, if you want to play along and do some CASEing come on over and visit us HERE.

Here some guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Pick any card (or two, or however many) from the Inspiration Project posts that we'll be publishing throughout the month of June (June 8, 12, 22, 26, and 30) that you want to CASE. You can create any type of project -- card, ATC, altered project, mixed media, art journal page, scrapbook page, etc.
  • You can use any supplies you have. You don't have to use STAMPlorations products; products by other companies are welcome -- but please play for fun, not for promotion!
  • In your blog post, include the card you're CASEing as well as describe how you were inspired by it. Link back to the Inspiration Project post too.
  • Don't forget to link up your CASE project(s) to the Inspiration CASE Playground!
  • CASE as many cards as you want, so long as you have them in separate posts on your blog.
  • You have until July 5th to link up your creations.
And don't forget, you could win a prize too!  One winner will be randomly drawn from all entries to win a $15 gift certificate or their choice of any 2 ARTplorations stencils.  I do hope you'll join in on the fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #12 Reminder

Just a reminder that there's still about a week left to link up your cards to One Layer Christmas Card Challenges current challenge.  As always it's anything goes but you have the option to use the twist.  The twist this time is green.  If you do use the twist you'll be entered in for the drawing to win an ARTplorations stencil!  Here's my card to inspire you...

I took my white cardstock base and stamped my snowflakes (large ones are an old foam stamp from Micheals and smaller ones are Hero Arts) in red and green.  I added some rhinestones to the larger snowflakes. I stamped my sentiment (Clearly Besotted) in black.  It's easy and quick but very festive, I think.  :-)

Hope you'll take a moment to join us over at OLCCC.  We would love to see you there!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I'd like to link up to the following challenges:

So, I took a strip of beige cardstock and stamped my sunflower (Bloom Sketches Set) using my Hero Arts orange ombré ink pad.  The ombré effect is harder to see on the beige paper.  Then I stamped some smaller flowers (Eclectic Florals Set) in Sea Glass (SSS) and white (Color Box) ink.  Then I attached my panel to my white card base.  I stamped the sentiment (Bloom Sketches Set) in the blue Hero Arts ombré ink.

Inkspirational Challenge - Prompt Word - Wild

Hi everyone!  Are you ready for a new, fun challenge?  Well, we've got one over at Inkspirational! The challenge this time is a prompt word.  The word is Wild.

All sorts of fun things can be associated with that word!  I interpreted it in three different ways.  Take a look...

So I've got the word, Wild (obviously), a wild animal print and wild neon colours!  This card was easy to make and a lot of fun.  First, I printed off a zebra stripe pattern I found online onto white cardstock.  Then, I die cut my letters using my Slice machine (I don't have any letter dies yet for my Evolution).  I sponged on some of my Hero Arts neon ink (orange to pink to blue to green) overlapping the colours a bit to blend nicely.  I chose the order of the colours for a very specific reason too.  Some colours blend nicely together to create another colour. Others don't blend together well at all.  So if I tried to blend orange and blue or pink and green, while complimentary, they blend into a muddy colour which isn't super pleasing to the eye.  It's just some basic colour theory really.   Once that was done, I arranged my letters on my white panel and adhered them down.  Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.  Lastly, I attached my panel to my card base with some foam dots.

I hope you'll all go on over to Ink and check out the other DT projects.  As usual, they are all so fabulous!  We've also got a fabulous guest designer joining us too.  Please leave some love for Jenny of My Paper Epiphany.  I hope to see you playing along as well.

Have a fantastic day and I hope you'll visit again soon!

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - clean and simple (it's their 3rd birthday too!)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - favourite technique/products. One of my all time favourite techniques is sponging and blending ink.

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #12

Hey everyone!  Want to get a head start on your Christmas cards?  Want to save on postage this year too?  Well, join us over at One Layer Christmas Card Challenges and you can do just that!  You'll not only have a Christmas card made for your stash but it'll be a one layer so no extra postage will be required.  Bonus!  :-).  As usual our challenge is anything goes with an optional twist.  Our twist this time is Green.

And if you use the twist you'll be entered in the draw for a prize!  You really need to check out what the DT have made too. Such awesome cards!  I hope my card will help to inspire you to play.  Check it out....

This card was actually quite easy to make.  I took a green card base and placed my holly stencil (STAMPlorations) over most of it and sponged gold ink (Color Box) on it and heat set it with my embossing gun.  Then I attached a strip of gold glitter tape. Lastly, I stamped and embossed my sentiment (Michaels) in gold.  I really love that holly stencil.

So, I hope to see you there showing off your fabulous one layer Christmas cards!

Have a fantastic day and thanks for visiting!

Butterfly Ombré

Hi!  Today I'm dropping in to share a card with you I made yesterday.  I was inspired by a few challenges.  I got to use one of my new die cuts and my Evolution die cutting machine for this card too.  I love my Evolution.  It's awesome!  :-)

Anyway, here's my card...

So, first I took a white panel and embossed it with my flourish folder (Darice).  Then I cut four one inch square pieces of white card stock and sponged on my four colours (spiced marmalade, mustard seed, broken china, victorian velvet distress inks) creating an ombré effect.  Then I adhered them to my embossed panel.  Next I die cut my butterfly (Simon Says Stamp) from white cardstock and adhered it to my panel centered in the squares.  Lastly, I attached my panel to my card base with foam dots.  I really like how this card turned out and I love that delicate butterfly.  I was going to put a sentiment but decided it didn't really need one.

Well, I hope you enjoyed your visit today and I hope you have an excellent weekend!

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS - code word is Butterfly.
CAS(E) This Sketch - I stayed pretty true to the sketch except for omitting the sentiment.

Waffle Flower Challenge - I was inspired by the colours and tried to mimic those ombré panels.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #22

Hey everyone!  I am back again over at STAMPlorations and the CASEplorations Playground with another inspiration card.  The Inspiration Design Team has come up with some great projects that are sure to get your creative juices flowing!  And then you can join in the fun over at the CASEplorations Playground!  You can CASE the card that our awesome Guest Designer, Virginia Lu, made (go HERE) or you can CASE one of the cards from Inspiration post #21 or from any of the cards the team has for you today.  I'll list all the info at the end of this post.  Now here's my card...

(Note:  all stamps are by STAMPlorations)

This was a pretty quick card to make but I love how it turned out.  I first stamped my feathers (Vignette: Trendy Feathers Set) using the pool to navy Ombré ink by Hero Arts. Then I splattered some watered down navy and teal ink.  Then I stamped my sentiment (Vignette: Chevron and Arrows Set) in nautical navy (Memento).

I hope you'll all swing by and check out the other amazing DT projects.  Why not play along too?  :-)

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #11 Reminder

Hey everyone!  There's still time to make a card for the current One Layer Christmas Card Challenge!  The twist this time is poinsettias but it's optional.  But if you use the twist you are entered in for the draw to win a prize.  I've made another poinsettia card to try to entice you to play.  Check it out...

This time my card is lacking in colour.  I wanted to use this iridescent embossing powder I have that shimmers a little bit blue when the light hits it just right.  It's hard to capture it in a photo.  I quite like the subtle white on white of this card.  It's a quick and easy card to make too.  I just stamped and embossed my poinsettia (STAMPlorations) and then stamped the sentiment (STAMPlorations) in grey.

Well, I really hope you'll be able to join us over at OLCCC.  I'd love to see you there!

Thanks so much for dropping by and I hope you all have a fantastic day!

STAMPlorations Inspiration #21

Hi everyone!  This is my first post as a part of the Inspiration Design Team over at STAMPlorations!  I'm very excited to be a part of this fabulous team and I hope you all like my first inspiration card.  Take a look...

So, I took my cupcake (Sketched: Cupcake) and created a mask then stamped it several times on my white panel.  Then I took several Distress inks (broken china, dusty concord, mowed lawn, mustard seed, spiced marmelade.  The red is Ruby red by SU!) and watered them down then took a paint brush and splashed the colors on.  Once dry, I stamped the sentiment (Vignette: Chevron and Arrows) in black and attached my panel to my white card base with foam dots.  Would you believe that I now cannot find my cupcake stamp set?  I think it's time I cleaned up my mind boggling, messy craft area!  LOL!

Want to check out what the other DT girls have created?  Go HERE.

Here's all the details on how to play along with us if you want to try your hand at CASEing:

Inkspirational Challenge - Inspiration Photo

Good morning everyone!  It's time for another challenge over at Inkspirational!  It's an inspiration picture this time and what a lovely picture it is!  Check it out...

Reading a good book among the flowers.  Sounds good to me!  :-). I decided to draw my inspiration from the pretty pink flowers.  Take a look...

I used one of my new dies and my Evolution die cutting machine to make my flowers.  The hollyhock flower die is by Memory Box.  I die cut three from white cardstock and then using Distress inks like water colours, I painted them.  I attached a panel of grey to my white card base and stamped the sentiment (SU!) in flannel grey (Memento).  Then I trimmed my flowers to different heights and and glued them onto my card.  This hollyhock die is so pretty and delicate.

I hope you come visit over at Ink and see the awesome DT projects and maybe join in and play along too.

Beach Life and Exciting News!

Hi everyone! I've got some exciting news to share with you today.  FINALLY!!  I've been keeping this to myself forever it seems!  :-).  I'm very happy to announce that I am now a part of the STAMPlorations Inspiration Design Team!  Every month the team participates in the CASEplorations challenge by CASEing an amazing card artist and then throughout the month we post inspiration cards to get your mojo going.  I'll be posting my first official card on Monday.  Hope you'll all check it out.  :-)

I have a card to share today that really makes me long for the beach. Take a look...

First, I took my light beige cardstock and splattered watered down walnut stain and tea dye Distress inks as well as watered down Memento black ink and white acrylic paint, over the entire surface.  Then I lightly spritzed some Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold mist.  This created a sandy look.  Then I stamped my pail and shovel (STAMPlorations) in walnut stain Distress ink and coloured it in with pencil crayons.  The shovel I painted (carefully and with a very small paintbrush) using white acrylic paint.  It showed up better than the pencil crayon.  I stamped the sentiment (STAMPlorations) in walnut stain ink as well.  I really need a trip to a lovely beach now.  :-)

Well, I hope you enjoyed your visit and hope you have a fantastic weekend!

I'd like to link up to the following challenges:

CAS-ual FridaysCreate a Clean And Simple (yes, it has to be CAS) project using Tan, White and one bright color.

Fusion Card Challenge - I just used the inspiration photo.  The starfish made me think of the beach and tried to replicate the colour of the board in my pail.

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #11

Hey there everyone!  It's that time again for another fun challenge over at One Layer Christmas Card Challenge!  As per usual, it's anything goes with an optional twist.  And if you use the twist you earn an entry for the prize drawing.  What's the twist this time?  I think you'll like it.  It's poinsettias.

I love using poinsettias for my Christmas cards.  I've got a few lovely pointsettia stamps too.  I decided to try something I wanted to experiment with ever since I made THIS card.  Take a look...

I decided to test out colouring on black cardstock with some coloured charcoal pencils.  They gave a much brighter colour than regular pencil crayons.  I first stamped my jumbo poinsettia (Stampendous) and embossed in gold.  Then I coloured it using red and some green and used yellow to highlight a bit.  They can be a bit messy to work with but I love the effect.  Reminds me of enameled jewellery.  You will need to spray with a fixative so the charcoal won't smudge though.  I finished off the card by stamping the sentiments (Clearly Besotted) in gold and heat setting them.  Its dramatic and lovely, I think.

I hope you'll pop on over to OLCCC and check out what the other DT members have created.  Wonderful cards, all of them.  Hope you'll join in on the fun too!

********

On another note, you may (or may not) have noticed a change in my photo layouts.  For Mother's Day, I received from my boys a photo light box!  I've been wanting one for a while.  It's really cool too.  It came with its own lights and a table tripod for your camera and four different coloured backdrops.  And it folds up for easy storage!  Here let me show you.

I'm still playing around with getting good photos and I need to replace the bulbs on the lights.  They are older bulbs and get very hot quite quickly. They can be replaced with some more efficient LED lights.  One of the cool features is the lights and tripod fold up and store in those pockets in the front.  I really love this gift and it was such a surprise.  :-)

Anyway, thanks so much for dropping by and I hope you all have a fabulous day!

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:
