Festive Friday Mid-Challenge Inspiration

There's still time to join in on the challenge over at Festive Friday where the inspiration is this lovely picture.

I have another card to share as part of my Guest Designing duties.  Hope it helps inspire you to join in on the fun! Check it out...

So, I decided to use some lovely patterned paper I got a couple of years ago at AC Moores.  It's hard to tell in the picture but the larger snowflakes are shiny.  First I stamped my pine boughs (Inkadinkdo) in forest moss distress ink.  Then I attached my strip of snowflake paper.  I added some ribbon and a bow and then stamped my sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.  I love the simplicity of this card and it would be a good one to reproduce quickly.

Please go check out the DT projects at Festive Friday. They are all incredible designers and their projects are amazing!

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - make a CAS card
Christmas Card Challenges - anything goes

I'd also like to welcome a new follower.  A warm welcome to Heidi of Stampin Along With Heidi.  She has some truly lovely work and you should definitely drop by and say hi.

Well, I really appreciate you stopping by for a visit and I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Inkspirational Challenge - Inkspiration Picture

Greetings!  It's time for another challenge over at Inkspirational!  This time it's a photo inspiration challenge.  Be prepared cause it's a cute one!

Aren't they adorable.  I almost wish I could crochet.  :-). I decided to draw on the owl image for my card.  I think I have only one owl stamp in my horde which is kind of sad really.  It's kind of a cute one though.  Take a look...

This stamp was a gift and I'm pretty sure it came from Michaels.  It had a sentiment that was part of the image as well (You're a Hoot!) but I didn't want that so I masked it out.  I stamped my owl in 4 bright colours on my white cardstock strip first.  This was rather difficult to line up as I did it by eye since I don't have a stamp-a-ma-jig thingy and the stamp is kind of crooked on the wood block.  Let's just say it took a few tries.  :-). I matted it on my striped paper (Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection by American Crafts) and adhered it to my card base.  I added some sequins (Neat and Tangled) and made my sentiment with some letter stickers from my stash.  Don't know who makes them.

I hope you will all come over to Inkspirational and try out the challenge!  At least take a look at the fabulous design teams projects including our wonderful Guest Designer, Maura.

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Time Out Challenge - be inspired by the words, "birds of a feather flock together".
Moxie Fab World, World Card Making Day Inspiration challenge - use this picture for inspiration.  I used the bright colours.

I would also like to take a moment to welcome another new follower.  Welcome Anita from Just a Pigment of my Imagination!  Isn't that a cool blog name?  Love it.  Please go on over and check out her lovely work.  :-)

Well, that's all for now.  Have a lovely day and thanks for visiting!

Festive Friday Guest Designer

Last week I got an email from Ardyth, who runs the Festive Friday Christmas challenge asking me if I'd like to be a guest designer for this new challenge.  Of course, I said yes!  As you all know, I love FF and I love making Christmas cards.  How could I say no?  :-). So, the inspiration picture is fabulous as usual and has so many possibilities.  Check it out...

Great, isn't it?  Now, take a look at what I came up with...

I stamped my flourish (Stampendous) with white StazOn on a kraft card base then added red gingham  bow.  I then adhered a couple of pine branches and some berries.  Lastly, I added two tiny jingle bells.  I love this card but it will definitely be given to someone that I don't have to mail to as it is rather bulky.  LOL.

I do hope that you will all join in on the fun at Festive Friday and get started on those Christmas cards.  You need to check out the DT's work too as it is totally fabulous, as usual!  They are one talented group!  I'm so thankful and honored they asked me to join them for this challenge.  :-)

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - it's their "holiday" challenge.
The Paper Players - make a CAS card with the option of using silver or gold.  My jingle bells are gold.
Christmas Cards All Year Round - use embellishments.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Enjoy The Season

Well, it's been a while since I last posted. Last weekend was busy and the week before was Thanksgiving. Time just got away from me. I have been busy working on some publication submissions as well.  Fingers crossed I get some picked up again!  :-)

I've got a card to share today and while it is a Christmas card it's not purple!  LOL.  Take a look....

This card gave me some trouble.  I just couldn't seem to get it the way I wanted and then I saw a sketch challenge and it just worked perfectly!  So first I inked up my tree stamp (Hero Arts) with midnight and aqua (Color Box) blending them on the stamp. I made a oval frame for it and colored the edge with a pale aqua spectrum noir marker.  I ran a white panel of cardstock through a snowflake embossing folder (Darice) and adhered this to my white card base.  I stamped my sentiment (Hero Arts LP209) in midnight and cut it out with my circle cutter.  I attached it and the oval with some foam dots to my card.  I really like this HA stamp.  It's a cool negative effect.

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - it's their "holiday" theme.
CAS on Sunday - embossing.
Hero Arts Holiday challenge - this card would fall into the "white out" category.
a2z Scrapbooking - use two Hero Arts products.  I've used two different stamps.
STAMPlorations - biweekly sketch challenge.

I'd also like to welcome two new followers!  A warm welcome to Mary of Very Inky Fingers ( I have ink stains on mine right now. LOL) and Bobby of Bits & Pieces.  Please take the time to visit their blogs and check out their cards.  Leave some love too!

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!

Inkspirational Challenge - Purple with Grey/Silver

Hello everyone!  It's that time again for another challenge over at Inkspirational!

Yes, it's a colour challenge this time.  Use any shade of purple and grey (or silver).  No other colours! However, black, white/cream are fine as well as skin tones or colours for fur.  Now, apparently I've been on a bit of a purple kick lately as I've posted a couple of cards featuring this colour combo already.  Both were Christmas cards and I figured why fight my inclinations?  So, another Christmas card it is!  Check it out...

So, I used a new stamp for this card.  The tree is by Penny Black.  I stamped in grey then coloured the dots in purple with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped my sentiment (by STAMPlorations) in grey then added glitter.  Also added some glitter to some of the dots on the tree.  I cut then tore my snowy hills raising the top one with some foam dots.  I love this tree stamp.  So pretty.

You really need to check out all the other DT's projects too.  They are all outstanding!  We also have a fabulous Guest Designer joining us.  Please go and visit Lynda over at Lynda's Crafty Hall and leave her some love!

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - anything goes

That's all for now!  Have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by!  :-)

Double, Double Toil and Trouble

Greetings!  Today's card is brought to you by the following spell:

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Now isn't that rather spooky?!  :-). I suppose you can guess what kind of card I will be sharing with you today.  Christmas!  LOL!  Just kidding.  Yes, it's a Halloween card.  Take a look...

So this card uses some wood veneer pieces that I don't use very often.  I found these in a local scrapbooking store and thought they were cool.  I coloured them up using my Spectrum Noir markers (TB1, TB3, TB5, TB6, CT2, OR1, OR2, OR3, DG2, DG3, DG4) and added some tiny labels I hand made and some glossy accents for shine to make them seem more like real bottles.  I made a shelf using some pieces of woodgrain paper that I shaded with my SN markers (EB1, EB7).  I drew a spider and it's web in the corner.  I layered this on some black cardstock then some green star patterned paper (Party Day paper pack by Crate Paper) and finally attaching to my black card base.  I love how my bottles turned out.  :-)

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

The Paper Players - Halloween
Spectrum Noir October challenge - use an embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a spooktacular day!

Pencil Crayon Poinsettia

Hello!  It's a lovely fall day today in Jemseg, New Brunswick.  A little windy but sunny and mild.  Sure beats the grey sky and rain we had on the weekend.  Well, today I have a card to share that showcases a rarely used colouring method, for me at least.  Now, you all know how much I love my Spectrum Noir markers but this time I decided to break out my neglected Prismacolor pencils.  I recently purchased a bunch of fantastic stamps from STAMPlorations that I've been playing around with.  Shery, who designs these stamps, has come up with some lovely new Christmas ones that I just adore.  For this card I used the poinsettia from the Holiday Sketches: Christmas Flower set.  As the name suggests, it has a wonderful sketched feel to it.  Take a look at what I've made...

So, I made a paper mask of the poinsettia and then stamped it all around the edge of the kraft card base.  I used soft suede ink (SU!) so as not to be too harsh looking.  Then I coloured my flowers using white, pink and green pencil crayons.  I love how this looks on the kraft paper.  Then I stamped my sentiment (from same set) in the same brown ink.  I love that this is all one layer as well.

I'm going to link up to these two challenges:

STAMPlorations - for their "Anything Goes" challenge which requires the use of their own stamps.

Virginia's View Challenge - make a CAS card.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed you visit.  I sure appreciate you stopping by.  Have a lovely day!

Vampire Bunny

Sshhhhhh......be very very quiet.  You might spook the vampire bunny.  If he notices you, throw some carrots at him and run!  LOL.  Hello!  Wondering what I'm going on about?  My husband often wonders that too!  ;-).  Well, I'm trying to dramatically lead up to my card for today.  I probably just came off as a bit crazy, I'm sure.  LOL.  That's okay.  My son insists that you have to be crazy to be in our family.  :-)

Anyway.....I've got a fun card to share with you today.  Have you guessed what it might be about?  Yep, a vampire bunny.  And how, pray tell, did I come up with the concept of a vampire bunny?  I didn't.  Lawn Fawn did.  They have this adorable Halloween set that features a vampire bunny, fangs, cape and all.  So this is what I came up with....

This card cracks me up every time I look at it!  I'm probably the only ones who finds it that amusing but that would be the crazy part of me.  LOL.  I decided to make my own keep calm poster using my bunny.  I took a orange card stock panel and carefully laid out my glitter letter stickers (Recollections) and then stamped my bunny and carrot.  I used my prismacolor colored pencils to colour in my bunny and carrot.  Then I layered my panel on white card stock and then attached it to my black card base.  I hope you enjoy this card as much as I do!  :-)

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

The Card Concept - it's a great colour combo this tine, perfect for a Halloween card.  I think my card would fall under the category of "clean and layered", maybe.

The Paper Players - the theme is Halloween.
Virginia's View Challenge - create a CAS card.

Well, I hope your fridges are stocked up with carrots and I wish you a good day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Town

Just wanted to share another card since it's WCMD.  :-). This one came about for a challenge going on over at Hero Arts.  Take a lookie...

So I used the royal purple StazOn ink again for this card.  It's quite rich and I just love the look of it against the white.  I stamped my Hero Arts winter town stamp and trimmed it down.  I cut some snow hills to layer at the bottom for added interest.  I stamped my sentiment (Michaels) in dove grey StazOn.  I finished it off with some silver thread.

So I'm linking it up at over at:

Hero Arts Holiday Challenge - this time it's in the "white out" category.  Lots of white!
Virginia's View Challenge - make a CAS card.

Thanks for visiting!!

Tree Ornament Card and Happy WCMD!

Hello everyone!  It's the start of a rainy weekend here and World Card Making Day is today!  Happy WCMD to you all!  I'm hoping to get crafty today and make some fun cards.  :-). So, today I've got a card that uses, what I think, is a very versatile stamp set.  I love to look a a stamp and suddenly see a different way to use it.  Take a look...

So I broke out my Party Dots set by Neat and Tangled and I used the large dotted circle as my ornament base and stamped it in royal purple StazOn.  The hanger part of the ornament came from a Hero Arts stamp which I stamp in dove grey StazOn.  I fussy cut it out and attached it with some foam dots.  I added an iridescent ribbon and dazzling diamonds glitter (SU!) to the dots.  As usual, the glitter is hard to capture on camera.  I stamped my sentiment (Hero Arts, Joy To All set) and then matted my panel on purple and attached to my white card base.  Another thing I love doing is creating Christmas cards in non- traditional colours.  Expect more in the next few months!  :-)

I'm going to link up to the following challenges:

Little Tangles - it's an "Anything Goes" challenge.
ABC Christmas Challenge - T is for Tree Ornament.
Merry Monday Christmas Challenge - use stripes or polka dots or both.  I've just got the dots.
Virginia's View Challenge - the challenge this month is to make a CAS card.  Don't have to twist my arm on that one Virginia!  LOL.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome a new follower.  Welcome to Loll of Stamping With Loll.  Loll has Ben blogging since 2011 and is one talented card artist.  She's well known for her gorgeous copper leaves and her card designs are inspiring.  You should definitely pay her a visit!

Well, that's all for now.  I hope you are getting your crafty on today and thanks for stopping by!
