Guest Designer for Paper Crafting Challenges

Hi everyone!  Once again I'm guest designing for Paper Crafting Challenges and this time it's an "anything goes" challenge!  Those are the best aren't they?  I hope you will all join in on the fun!

**NOTE**. The anything goes challenge is over now.  There was a mix up over at the blog and my card didn't get posted.  It's a sweet colour combo challenge now that I still recommend you check out!

This time I decided to try a one layer card.  It took a couple of tries as I messed up a bit but I think it turned out pretty good.  Check it out...

So, I masked off my middle section and stamped with my flower stamp (from Eclectic Florals set by STAMPlorations) in Ruby Red SU! ink.  Using the same ink I stamped my dotted flourish (Inkadinkado) as well.  Then I masked off my top and bottom sections and sponged the same ink on the card base.  I added a white line with my white gel pen and ruler.  Then I stamped my sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.  Now you might wonder why I did everything in red and white.  Well, I wanted to play along with One Layer Simplicity Challenge's theme which is to create a card using the colours of your home country's flag.  Since I'm Canadian it's red and white for me.  :-).  I rather like the red and white colours together.

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hello everyone!  It's new challenge time over at Inkspirational and we've got a fun one for you.  This time it's an inspiration picture.  Check it out...

So it's totally up for interpretation and there's so much there to draw from!  You could go with the colours the whale, the boats, the hot air balloons or all of the above!  Any style is good too.  Just make sure to explain how your project ties in just in case its hard to tell.  :-). I decided to go with the balloons.  My card is super CAS and the colours are different but my hot air balloon stamp is totally the same style as the picture.  Kind of old fashioned.  Take a look..

The balloon stamp is by 7 Gypsies and the sentiment is by Fiskars.  I stamped the balloon three times in pink, yellow and orange.  Then the sentiment in black.  It quick and easy and one layer too!  I wanted to use some bright summery colours.

While I wasn't aware of the big blogging birthday bash for our friend, Darnell (of djkardkreations) I still wanted to make sure she knows that I wish her the biggest, bestest, most spectacular of birthdays!

So, Darnell, I hope you know that your friendship is a special one and I appreciate all your support and encouragement.  You rock!  I have sent you a birthday card in the mail.  You should get it next week sometime, hopefully.  :-)

Hope you are celebrating your heart out!  The Mister better spoil you!  Big, gigantic hugs to you!

Winter White Wreath

Well, its another hot and humid day here in a Jemseg, NB.  Definitely a day you wish you had a pool.  It's too hot for everyone, even the puppy.  We had a bit of a health scare with the puppy this past week.  She got really sick Wednesday evening and a visit to the vet Thursday morning confirmed our worst fears.  She had Parvovirus.  She had to spend almost two days in the hospital.  There were lots of tears in our house that day.  However, she responded really well to treatment and was able to come home Thursday evening.  She's still on meds and not fully recovered but she's doing really well.  Thank goodness.  Hard to believe how much we became attached to her in five short days.  Glad she's on the mend.  :-)

Anyway, my card today was inspired by the lovely challenge picture over at a Festive Friday.  Take a look...

Isn't that lovely?  I decided to pull out the white and pretty pastel colours.  Here, take a look...

The wreath is by Penny Black and is new.  I stamped with versamark on kraft cardstock and embossed in white.  I added some pearls in pink, pale blue, purple and white.  I matted this on white and attached to my kraft card base with foam dots.  I stamped my sentiment (Stampabilities) in white but it didn't show up well so I went over it with my white gel pen.  Love how soft and pretty this turned out.  :-)

Happy Birthday Dad!

This is the card I made for my Dad for his birthday.  It's not until Friday but he got the card already.  My parents live in a Calgary, AB and with my Dad's birthday and Father's Day so close together I usually mail both cards at the same time.  Which usually results in him getting one late and one early.  LOL.  Oh well.  Anyway, here's the card...

I used some patterned kraft paper I won a while ago.  I can't remember who makes it, though.  I cut two pieces and adhered to either side of my white card base.  Then I took some (pre) die cut letter in a reddish orange and adhered them along the white card base edge.  Lastly, I used some white letterstickers for the birthday.  A really quick and easy card to make but with that cool patterned kraft paper I think it's quite visually interesting.

I don't know how many cards I'll be posting the next few weeks.  With our new puppy and Donovan being on summer break, I've got my hands full!  I'll probably go into crafty withdrawal!  I'll still have my Inkspirational post though.  Whew!  The outlook is not all bleak!  LOL.  Our puppy, Summer, is doing quite well.  Crate training is going very well and she's getting the idea of going to the bathroom outside already!  Here are a few pictures...

Inkspirational Challenge - Blue with White or Cream

Good morning!  It's another challenge over at Inkspirational!  This time the challenge is to create a project using only blue and white (or cream).  Different shades of blue are perfectly fine and black can be used as well (in limited quantities).  Doesn't matter what style of card or the occasion.  Come and join in the fun!

This is what I came up with...

It's funny, it looks like I used different shades of blue for the butterflies but I didn't.  I couldn't seem to take a picture that didn't do that.  Oh well.  The butterflies are from a set of clings by Stampendous.  Love them!  The flowers were stamped in a lighter blue and come from a cling set by Inkadinkado.  The sentiment is from STAMPlorations Trendy Feathers set.  It's just a one layer card but I did add a few pearls here and there.  They are quite small so they don't distract.

I decided to break out the glitter tape for this card.  Stamped my sentiment (Neat and Tangled) in grey.  Then I added some mirrored stars.
