One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #22

In the mood for some Christmas cards?  I am!  Okay, I'm always up for Christmas cards, even in the middle of Summer.  :-)  If you are in the mood and you want to do a fun challenge too, come join us over at One Layer Christmas Card Challenges!  As always, its an anything goes theme with an optional twist.  This time the twist is "Silhouette".

So many silhouette stamps to choose from!  I decided to create a little scene again like my reindeer card but no reindeer this time.  Take a look...

A fox!  Why not?!  What I did first was create a hill mask by tearing some scrap paper.  I sponged on Victorian Velvet Distress ink near the hill, then SSS Sea Glass ink, and finally Memento Teal Zeal for my sky.  Next, I splattered white acrylic paint.  I stamped my fox (Fiskars) and trees (All Night Media) in black versamark ink.  I added some more hills using the same mask and sponging some more sea glass ink.  I added a bit of sparkle by randomly dotting the sky with my Wink of Stella pen.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.  I love how the sky turned out like dawn is just starting.

I do hope you'll be able to join us and I hope you enjoy all the other DT projects as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Poinsettia Tags

Hey everyone!  Today I'm sharing a couple of tags I made. There are always lots of fun Christmas themed challenges around at this time of year and I love to participate when I can. :-).  Now, you know how fond I am of non-traditional colours for Christmas cards and tags are fair game too.  Take a look...

I started with the pink one then decided to make one in blue too.

I stamped my poinsettia (STAMPlorations) on the bottom corner in black ink and coloured it in with my Spectrum Noir Markers.  For the pink tag, I speckled the background using my markers as well, then splattered metallic silver acrylic paint and added some random dots of Wink of Stella (both hard to see of course). I did some white dots with a white gel pen on the poinsettia leaves and added some more WoS to the center.  For the blue tag I did a blended grey background rather than dot it.  Then I splattered white and silver acrylic paint.  I stamped the sentiments (STAMPlorations) in black ink.  Lastly, I added some ribbons.  I think they turned out quite lovely.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today and I wish you a fabulous weekend!

STAMPlorations Inspiration Post #47

Happy Friday everyone!  Its a great day to share another card over at STAMPlorations!  Its time for the Inspiration Team to try and inspire you to create.  We hope that our cards will help get your creative juices flowing and you'll join us.  You can CASE one of our cards from today's post or from post #46. Or you can check out the CASEplorations post and CASE Suchi's fabulous card.  And there's always a chance to win a prize if you do play along!  Here's what I came up with...

(All stamps by STAMPlorations)

I first masked off a section of my card then laid my Holly Background stencil on it.  Using clear versamark ink, I sponged over the stencil.  I removed the stencil and mask and embossed it using Vintage Mint embossing powder (Recollections).  I trimmed a piece of silver glitter tape (Darice) and attached it to the card.  I die cut a snowflake (Echo Park), attached it to the card and added some bling.  I found these cool rhinestone type embellishments at Walmart and they only came in a few colours.  I used the clear one and tinted it the green I wanted with a Spectrum Noir marker.  I stamped the sentiment (Holiday Sketches: Christmas Candles set) in Dove Gray StazOn ink.  Really love that Vintage Mint embossing powder.  Such a soft colour and great sparkle.

Well, I sure hope you'll be able to play along with us.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a fantastic Friday!  Enjoy the weekend!

STAMPlorations Inspiration Post #46

Hello!  It's time again for an Inspiration post over at STAMPlorations!  As always we encourage you to join in and CASE one of our cards from today's post or CASE Suchi's card from the CASEplorations post.  If you do play along you could win a prize too!  Here's what I made...

(All stamps by STAMPlorations)

I decided to play around with Shirley's stamp set, Folk Flowers, for my card.  I took three of the leaf shapes and stamped them randomly around the bottom corner of my white card base in soft suede (SU!) ink.  Then I coloured them with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped the sentiment (Friends and Flowers set, Dee's Artsy Impressions) in soft suede as well.  I like how the leaves turned out all mottled.

I do hope you'll all join in on the fun and CASE a card!  You should definitely check out what the rest of the team made too!

Have an awesome day and thanks for stopping by!

Inkspirational - Colour Challenge - Anything Goes With Silver

Happy Saturday everyone!  It's a lovely mild day here in Jemseg, New Brunswick.  We've had a pretty nice fall if a bit rainy.  Hard to believe that it is November already.  Before you know it Christmas will be here.  I know, I know, you don't want to hear it.  LOL. Well, how about hearing about a challenge instead?  We've got a new one over at Inkspirational and it's a great one for getting those Christmas cards done.  It's a colour challenge and it's anything goes with silver.

My card today is another one for my Christmas card stash.  I need about 7 more cards to be done.  I would have been done sooner but my Mom wanted some for her so my stash took a bit of a hit.  :-)  Anything for my Mom though.  Here's my card...

I decided to use a NBUS stencil (STAMPlorations) for the main part of my card. I masked off the top portion of my card, put my stencil on and sponged on metallic silver ink (Color Box). I removed my mask and adhered some houndstooth patterned washi tape (Recollections) and a trimmed piece of teal glitter tape (Recollections).  I die cut a snowflake (Echo Park) and added a pink iridescent rhinestone and attached it to my card.  Love the pops of colour with this card.

Well, I hope you'll come on over and play along with us.  You should definitely check out the Ink DT projects.  They always deliver!  Plus, we have a fabulous Guest Designer too.  Kathi of My Creative Therapy joins us and has created a fantastic card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing weekend!

Happy Holidays

Hey everyone!  Just a quick post to share a card I made.  For this card I decided to step away from my beloved white cardstock and use a coloured card base.  I realized recently that I don't use other colours for my card bases very often anymore.  I need to try and use some colour now and then. :-). Take a look...

So I used a nice dark blue cardstock for my base and I masked off a section and stamped my snowflakes (both by Hero Arts, large one F5793 and small one LP209) and embossed them in white.  Then I removed the mask and stamp my sentiment (Michaels) and embossed it in white as well.  I added some trimmed strips of silver glitter tape to finish it off.  Love the look of the white and silver against the blue.

Well, I hope you've enjoyed your visit!  I'm off to paint some more kitchen cupboards!  Have a wonderful day!

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #21

Hello!  I know I've been MIA for a bit.  We are in the middle of doing renovations (as I've mentioned before) and while we are a ways off from being done, I finally cleaned up the mess the electricians made when they needed access to my art area.  So, I finally got to make some cards!  So, today over at One Layer Christmas Card Challenge we have a fun challenge for you.  As usual it's anything goes, but the twist this time is Reindeer.  And if you use the twist you could win a prize!

I have a few reindeer stamps and I decided to go with an old one.  I still love this stamp.  Take a look...

The first thing I did was stamp my reindeer (Inkadinkado) and emboss it in white.  Then I masked off my hill and moon.  I sponged on Elderberry, Nautical Blue and some Teal Zeal Memento inks for the sky.  I splattered some water on it and then some white acrylic paint.  Then I stamped my bare branch tree (don't know who made it, it's pretty old) and my pine tree (another oldie, All Night Media) in Versafine black ink.  I removed the masks and stamped the sentiment (STAMPlorations) in black.  I think this little snowy scene turned out rather well.  :-)

Well, I hope I've inspired you to not only get a head start on your Christmas cards but to join us over at OLCCC.  Remember there's a prize up for grabs if you use the twist.  You really should at least check out the other DT member's projects as they are all fabulous.

I hope you all have a fantastic day and thanks so much for visiting.
