MIA!

Hello all you wonderful card makers out there!  It’s been forever and a day since I’ve posted anything here. Over a year. ☹️  You see, my life changed a lot in June of 2017. I was teaching painting as a part of a paint night party company based here in the Maritimes and they approached me to become a licensee owner where I live. So I bought into the company and now run a small but rather successful art party business.  It’s been a heck of a lot of hard work with some stressful moments but things are going quite well. I’m currently in the beginning of my busy time so I’ve got paint night events happening every week sometimes even two or three a week. I’ve got a staff of two other artists that help me with events though.  When I’m not busy online promoting, advertising or making Facebook posts I’m painting new subject matter for events.  And then there’s regular everyday family life.  So, unfortunately, cardmaking has taken a backseat to all that.  In fact I barely ever make a card any more. Which kind of makes me sad.  I miss it but I just haven’t been able to find enough time to get back into it. I am hoping to make some Christmas cards though soon as I still can’t bring myself to buy them.  LOL!

So, while I don’t have any cards to share perhaps I wil share some paintings I’ve done for my little business. 🙂

Good morning! It's time for another inspiration post over at STAMPlorations!  This week we are showcasing our fabulous STAMP girl, Deepti's stamps.  I love her wonderful images. Such variety and versatility. Here's my card....

I stamped the circle frame (Frames and Flowers set) several times in black.  Then I masked around the outside of the circles and stamped the birthday images (Kathryn's Big Wishes and Party Mates sets).  I coloured them in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped the sentiment (Balloons and Banners set) in black.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #136

Hey everyone!  It's almost June!  Hard to believe.  It's been a slow start to Spring here with lower than normal temperatures and tons of rainy days.  We usually get a fair amount of rain in the Spring but not quite this much.  I don't know about where you are but the blackflies are terrible here.  They are super annoying.  Thank goodness they only last a couple of weeks.  Of course, that means it'll be time for other annoying insects to come out of the woodwork.  Sigh.  Oh well.  At least things are green and growing again.

Today, over at STAMPlorations we've got one last Inspiration post to share with you this month.  But don't worry we'll be back at it again in June!  This time it's an anything goes post. Take a look....

Yes, once again I have made a Christmas card.  I'm actually behind in my Christmas card making this year.  Anyway, I broke out this awesome Christmas Reindeer stencil and sponged on the Pool to Navy ombre inks by Hero Arts.  Then, before removing the stencil, I splattered some white acrylic paint and I stamped several small snowflakes (Vignette: Christmas Block set) in silver Delicata ink.  Then I stamped the sentiment (Framed Christmas: Believe in the Magic set) which I masked off the part that said "in the Magic".  I attached my panel to a dark blue card base and added a narrow strip of silver glitter tape.  I love how this turned out and will definitely be recreating it for my Mom's stash.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #135

Hey everyone!  It's that time again for Inspiration Tuesday, over at STAMPlorations,  We are showcasing our lovely and talented leader, Shery. Her stamp line, Shery Russ Designs, is one of my all time favourite lines.  Artistic and funky, they are a pleasure to create with.  Here's my card....

First, I stamped the lighthouse (True North set) in Walnut Stain Distress ink.  I coloured it in with my Prismacolour pencil crayons (white and brown).  Then I created a mask and covered it up.  I splatter Walnut Stain ink over top.  I stamped the sentiment (Fond Expressions 2 set) on a piece of white cardstock and added a strip of aqua cardstock underneath.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #134

Good morning!  Once again it's rainy here and a bit chilly. It's not been a particularly nice Spring so far. A ton of rain and too cold. Our neighbour is a farmer (grows the best strawberries and potatoes!) and he hasn't been able to plant anything yet. Not good. ☹️  We are supposed to get some super warm weather the end of the week so hoping that helps him.

Anyway, it's time for another inspiration post over at STAMPlorations!  This week we are showcasing our fabulous STAMP girl, Deepti's stamps.  I love her wonderful images. Such variety and versatility. Here's my card....

First, I stamped the flowers (Smile set) and coloured them in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Then I added a strip of washi tape. Now, I'd never used this washi tape before and so I didn't realize that it was semi-transparent so the flower stamping I'd done was showing through. It looked terrible so I cut a strip of white cardstock and put that underneath the tape. Much better!  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment (Just Because set) in black.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #133

Well, true to form, here in New Brunswick, Spring has brought the rain.  It has rained A LOT here.  On Saturday we had more than 50mm of rain.  Some areas here and in Fredericton the river has reached flood levels.  The old Trans Canada Highway has shut down from here to Burton.  Some of it is underwater right now.  I feel bad for those who live along there.  But, they have gone through this many times before.  I don't know how they do it.  We haven't had bad flooding for a couple of years so I guess it was just a matter of time.  Unfortunately, there's more rain coming.  Thank goodness we live far enough away from the river and are up on a hill.  Anyway, it is time for another inspiration post over at STAMPlorations.  This week we are showcasing Becca's stamps.  This is what I made...

First, I stamped the candles (A Snarky Birthday to You set) and then the sentiment (same set).  Then I created masks for the candles and the sentiment.  I then stamped the grunge background (Mixed Media Elements set) using Dove Gray StazOn ink.  I removed the masks and coloured in the candles with my Spectrum Noir markers.  This set always makes me laugh.

CUTplorations May Challenge

Hey everyone!  Today we start a new challenge over at CUTplorations.  Our photo inspiration is   Check it out...

A lovely Spring picture isn't it?  I have some of these bleeding heart plants and they are always so pretty every year.  Anyway, I was inspired by the flowers and the colours.  Take a look...

I stamped my daisy (Bloom Sketches set) using Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress ink and spritzing with water first.  Then I took Mowed Lawn Distress ink and inked up an acrylic block and added some water.  I then smooshed it overtop of my daisies.  Next, I added some black ink splatters.  I die cut the sentiment (Amazing Word Die) from black cardstock and attached it to my card.  Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment (Sentiment Builders: Happy set) around it in black.

STAMPlorations April/May Stamps Spotlight Hop

Hey everyone!  Today is the day we spotlight some new stamp sets over at STAMPlorations!  The designers came up with some really lovely sets for us.

Aren't they wonderful?!  I had a lot of fun creating with them.  This is what I came up with....

First, I stamped one of the perfume bottles (Parfumerie set) in black and coloured it in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  You have to be careful what colours you choose when colouring on coloured cardstock.  Then I stamped the other perfume bottles around it using the silver Delicata ink.

I stamped the flowers and leaves (Sweet and Sassy Mom set) in black and then coloured them in with my Prismacolour pencil crayons.  Then I stamped the sentiments.  I added the brackets with a black pen.

I stamped the floral bouquet (Best Mom Ever set) in black on the corners of my card base.  Then I coloured them in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped the sentiment in black.

I stamped the girl (One Cool Chick set) in black and then created a mask and covered her up.  I sponged white ink first over top and then sponge Seedless Preserves Distress ink over top of the white.  By doing the white first, the purple showed up better on the kraft cardstock.  Then I stamped the sentiment in black.

Good Morning!  It's a rainy Spring day and I'm staying inside and I think I may do a little creating.  Not sure if I'll make some cards or paint a little.  In any case, I'm going to make something!  Anyway, it's Tuesday and that means we've got another Inspiration post over at STAMPlorations!  This week we are showcasing our talented, Shirley's, stamps sets.  Her stamp line is so fun and whimsical!  Here's what I came up with...

First, I created some masks of my trees (Houses Extras set).  Then I stamped away using the masks.  I then coloured them in with my Spectrum Noir markers. I stamped the sentiment (Birds of Paradise set) in black.  A simple yet fun card!

STAMPlorations Inspiration # 131

Hey everyone!  I can't believe that April is over.  The month just seem to speed past so quickly. Here, in Jemseg, Spring has finally arrived.  Warmer temps, buds forming on the trees, grass starting to grow and spring flowers popping up. And rain. Lots of rain. 😜

I just love all the wonderful phrase dies we've got now. It's awesome how you can make a lovely little card from some patterned paper, glitter tape and a die cut. That's pretty much all I did for this card and I just love it. The phrase die can be found HERE.  This paper is from a small paper pack I got from my former Inkspirational teammate, Yvonne.  It's by Martha Stewart. I just love the colours and how some of the snowflakes have a bit of sheen to them.

I made this card for my son to give to his friend for his birthday.  He was having a pirate themed party so I decided a card with a pirate ship was needed!  First, I took a piece of watercolour paper and using my Spectrum Aqua markers and a water brush pen, I created a rainbow-like wash.  Once this dried, I stamped my boat (True North set) and coloured in the hull with a brown pencil crayon.  I paper pieced the sails with white cardstock.  Using a fine tip black marker, I added the crow's nest and flag.  I drew in the suggestion of a skull and crossbones with and white gel pen. Then, I took 3 different shades of blue cardstock and using some scalloped scissors, created my waves in the water and attached it to my card, making sure the bottom edge of my boat was covered.  I matted this all with black cardstock them attached to my white card base.  I stamped the sentiment (Vignette: Chevron and Arrows set) in black.

Greeting everyone!  It's been a bit dreary here with rain and lower temps but my tulips are coming up and grass is beginning to grow.  There are buds on the trees too.  Can't wait to see the leaves on the trees again!  Welcome Spring!

I took the foliage stamp (Just Because set) and inked it up with Mustard Seed and Mowed Lawn Distress inks.  Before I stamped I spritzed it with water.  I stamped the sentiment (Smile set) in Black Versafine ink.  I love how the ink blends together when you wet it.

Things With Wings Blog Hop Card #2

Hello!  Today is the second post for the STAMPlorations Things with Wings blog hop we are having.  Once again we've got some awesome new products to share as well as a look at some oldie but goodies.

On Wednesday for another couple of weeks, the STAMPlorations team will share with you their awesome projects. Today, I'm showcasing a favourite set of mine, designed by the amazing, Shirley.  Take a look.....

On my kraft cardstock I stamped the dragonflies (Winged Things set) in black then coloured them in with my Prismacolor pencil crayons.  I splattered some black ink next.  I stamped the sentiment (Trendy Butterflies 2 set) in black.  I love the intensity of the colours I managed to achieve with the pencil crayons on the kraft cardstock.

STAMPlorations Inspiration #128

Hey everyone!  Spring seems to have finally sprung here in Jemseg.  My tulips are finally poking through in my garden.  Can't wait for everything to start turning green and blooming!  Anyway, it is time for another inspiration post over at STAMPlorations.  This week we are showcasing Becca's stamps.  This is what I came up with...

I stamped the large buttercup (Buttercups and Butterflies set) in black and then using white, navy and black pencil crayons, coloured them in.  I stamped the sentiment (Bloom Happy set.  This is actually a set by Shery but it was the sentiment I needed.) in black as well.  I have become quite fond of my pencil crayons lately.  Perhaps, I'm unconsciously trying to convince Becca to get some!  Wink, wink, Becca.

Inkspirational Challenge - Prompt Word, Spring

Greetings Inkspirational fans!  It's time for another challenge!  But before I get to that, I have some sad news.  Today is my last post for Inkspirational.  My life seems to be getting busier and busier and I have to scale back somewhere.  I'm super sad about this as my Inkspirational teammates are such great friends, despite never having met them!  But I'll be around the Blogasphere and will visit for sure!  I appreciate all you Ink fans visiting little old me and leaving such lovely comments.  Hope you'll keep dropping by.  As for my teammates, you are the best!  I'll miss being a part of the team but we will keep in touch. 

Okay, onto the challenge!  It's a word prompt this time and a very appropriate one for this time of year.  It's Spring!

When I think of Spring I think of flowers.  I can't wait for my tulips to grow and bloom.  It's been a slow start this year but they are now beginning to pop up.  So, for my card I had to feature some flowers.  Check it out....

I stamped my flowers and foliage (Happy Little Stampers) and embossed them in white.  Then I took Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and sponged that overtop.  I did a little water splatters as well as splattering some black ink.  I stamped the sentiment (Happy Little Stampers) in black on a strip of white cardstock.  I attached it to the card after I added a couple of pieces of washi tape underneath.  I really love this colour combo.

Things With Wings Blog Hop

Hello again everyone!  Over at STAMPlorations we are having a super fun blog hop.  It's the Things With Wings Hop!  We've got some awesome new products to share as well as a look at some oldie but goodies.

Every Wednesday for the next few weeks, the STAMPlorations team with share with you their awesome projects. Today, I'm showcasing a new set designed by our wonderful, amazing leader, Shery.  Take a look.....

First, I decided to do some smooshing (and a bit of splattering) using watered down Distress Ink (Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Mowed Lawn) and an acrylic block.  Once that was dry and flattened, I stamped that gorgeous butterfly (Trendy Butterflies 2 set) in black Versamark ink.  Then on a strip of white cardstock I stamped the sentiment (from same set) in black as well.  I attached it to my card with a strip of black cardstock underneath.

CUTplorations April Challenge

Hey everyone!  Today we start a new challenge over at CUTplorations.  Our photo inspiration is an appropriate one for April as Easter is this month.  Check it out...

Isnt it an adorable image  I just had to use Shirleys, Fowl Play set for this.  Check it out....

I stamped my birds and then coloured them in with my Prismacolor pencil crayons.  I die cut my Hello (Hello Word Die) from black cardstock and attached it to my card.  I stamped the Chickie (from same set) in black underneath the Hello.  Simple and sweet.
