Vellum Trees

So, today my son and I decorated the living room with Halloween decorations.  He's quite excited.  :-)  I have to admit I love Halloween.  This will be the first year my husband and I haven't dressed up with our son since he first really started going trick or treating.  I just didn't have to time to get the costumes together.  :-(  Oh well, it'll still be fun.

Anyway, I digress.  (what else is new? LOL)  I have a card to share today that I made with a few challenges in mind.  I think I'm getting in under the wire at two of them.  Oh, the life of a procrastinator.  Well, it's never boring.  :-)  So, I'm linking up to Addicted to CAS and their code word is Transparent.  Also, linking up to Less is More and their challenge is Trees.  I'm going to link this up at CAS-ology where their challenge is Country.  So, here's my card...

Now, I've used some vellum paper for my main focal point.  First, I printed off a free digi image from Beccy's Place.  I actually printed two.  I trimmed them down to be the same size after I flipped one over and placed it behind the other.  I splattered both with some white acrylic paint to mimic snow and adhered the two pieces together.  This gives the trees some dimension don't you think?  I sponged some Olive StazOn lightly around the edges.  I cut a white panel and adhered my vellum trees to it and then attached the ribbon and bow.  Then I attached the panel to my card base with foam dots.  I have to say I quite like the effect of this layered vellum.  I may have to experiment some more.  I will make a note here that if you are planning to print on vellum to use a laser printer.  An ink jet won't work and will bead and smudge.  :-)  So, obviously this is good for the Less is More challenge cause of the trees.  Now, my vellum isn't quite transparent (for Addicted to CAS) but it's close.  :-) Hopefully, it's okay.  And when I think of the word "country" (for CAS-ology) I always think of trees.  :-)  Now, I've got another Christmas card done.  I actually think I've got almost all I need completed for this year.  Wooohooo!

Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
