Merry Christmas Sled

Hello everyone!  I'm sorry I haven't been by your blogs lately.  It's been a busy week so far.  It's the last week of school and on Monday I went with my son's class to the Zoo at Magnetic Hill in Moncton.  It was a long and tiring day but lots of fun.  We've had company for a few days as well.  I think the busy-ness won't be ending anytime soon, either.  On Saturday we go to pick up our new puppy!  We are getting a Treeing Walker Coonhound.  They are a good hunting dog breed but make great family pets too.  Looks kind if like a beagle but taller and slimmer.  We've decided to call her Summer since we will be getting her on the first day of summer.  Here's a picture of her.

Isn't she sweet?!  And this picture doesn't do her justice either.  It's going to be an interesting summer!

Anyway, I'll do my best to visit you all when I can.  I do have a card to share.  I made this for the Festive Friday challenge going on right now.  It's almost over and as usual I'm linking up last minute. LOL.  :-).  Here's the inspiration....

I really liked the sled image and so I pulled out a NBUS sled stamp (winter wonderland set by Recollections) and stamped and coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I wanted it to look like it was in a snow bank so I used some texture snow.  Then I stamped my sentiment (Stampabilities) in green.  Layer my panel on some green striped and glittered paper and then attached to my card base.

Guest Designing at Paper Crafting Challenges

Hello there!  It's been a little while since I last posted.  I've been busy with the last days of school and working on refinishing the antique buffet and hutch we bought years ago.  It had about 3 or 4 layers of paint (all different, all ugly and all done poorly) and I'm finally getting around to scraping and sanding it down.  We bought some Miss Mustard Seed's Milk paint that I can't wait to try out.  I learned about this from a fellow blogger, Meredith.  I looked into it and thought it looked fabulous.  We got the Linen for the outside, and doors and French Enamel (a kind of teal blue) for the inside shelves and back.  I'll be posting pictures of the before and after when I get it done.  Which could be months from now.  LOL!

The card I'm sharing today is one I made as a guest designer over at Paper Crafting Challenges.  Justin has some great challenge ideas and often a great prize up for grabs.  The challenge this time is "In Summer".  I had originally intended to link up to STAMPloration sketch challenge as I used the sketch but it ended sooner that I thought.  Oh well, it still gave me a card that I totally love.  Check it out...

When Justin told me the theme, I thought of the beach right away.  That's what summer means to me and my family. Traveling to PEI (or closer to home) and hanging out on the beach, looking for sea glass and sea shells.  Another favourite of the summer days are the appearance of dragonflies.  So, I made my sky by wetting down a strip of paper and randomly brushing on some broken china distress ink.  Once dry, I stamped my grass (SU!). I attached this to my beige card base.  I took some kraft card stock and tore the edges creating my sand dunes.  To give it that sandy speckled look I splattered brown, black and white acrylic paint.  I attached one piece down flat.  I stamped the sentiment (Paper Smooches) and adhered the second dune with some foam dots.  I added some glitter puffy shell stickers by Momenta.  Then I stamped and coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers my dragon fly.  I added diamond Stickles to the wings and attached it to the card.

Father's Day Fan

Good Morning everyone!  Today I'm sharing a Father's Day card.  This one is for my FIL.  I just love how it turned out!  Take a look...

I've had this stamp set for a while but never used it until now.  It's a set by Studio G.  I stamped and coloured the fan with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped the sentiment (which I performed a little surgery on first as I didn't quite like where the "I'm a" was situated) then added a sticker heart and black glitter letters for the "dad".  Then I cut a few small slits where the fan part is and threaded my green ribbon through. I secured it with some washi tape at the back and then twisted and arranged the ribbon and glued the ends down in place.  I attached my panel with some foam dots to my card base.

Inkspirational Challenge - Sandie's Choice - Clean and Simple

It's a new challenge over at Inkspirational!  This time it was Sandie's choice and she chose the theme "clean and simple".  I hope you'll all join us for all the fun!  Now, I love to make CAS cards as many of you know.  So, this is just my kind of challenge.  :-). Take a look...

I used some of my new stamps from STAMPlorations that I won a little while ago.  I used Eclectic Florals set and the sentiment is from the Trendy Feathers set.  I masked off one edge and randomly stamped my flowers in different colours (all SU!, sage shadow, ballet blue, dusty durango, rich razzleberry).  Then I stamped my dotted flourishes (Inkadinkado) in versamark and embossed in clear over top.  It's a bit hard to see but it's there.  Then I made some different sized flags/banners and stamped my sentiment in dusty durango on the white one.

June Guest Designer at STAMPlorations

I'm very happy to be doing this post today!  A little while ago I was invited to be a GD over at STAMPlorations for their monthly challenge for June.  The challenge for June is Stamps and Borders.

I'm honored to be among some fabulous designers!  The DT is filled with such talent!  You need to go check out their awesome creations!  Anyway, here's my card...

I just love the feathers of the Trendy Feathers set!  There are 4 different styles and four different sentiments.  I first took one of the feathers images and stamped it with broken china distress ink.  Then I sponged, splattered, sprayed blue and some green ink and then sprayed water over top.  Once that was dry I stamped the feather again in forest moss distress ink.  I cut my panel into strips and put two vertically and one horizontally.  I stamped the feather in the forest moss again and fussy cut it out, placing it beside my stamped sentiment.

Ho Ho Ho Tag

Just a quick post today.  I've got to get my project linked up to Festive Friday before the current challenge ends.  This is the inspiration photo this time around.

So much to draw from!  I decided to use the red and white colours.  I also decided to make a tag instead of a card.

So, I had to hand draw and cut my mustache (if you had a die that would be easier, but I didn't) and then I embossed it and the other white panel piece with my snowflake folder (Darice).  Once attached to my red tag I added the white glitter letters (Recollections) and the white ribbon/bow.  Simple but I think it's rather cute.

So, you may have noticed that the embossing folders I use are mainly by Darice.  In case any of you are interested, I found a place online that sell a large variety in two different sizes (5 x 7 and 4.25 x 5.25) and their price is fantastic!  $2.97 (USD) each.  I've seen them go on sale for $1.97 many times too.  They are called consumercrafts.com. It where I get my Spectrum Noir marker usually too.  Best price I've been able to find and they also go on sale often.  They've got lots of crafty stuff and while their cardmaking/scrapbooking selection isn't huge they've got some great stuff at great prices.  Anyway, I thought I'd share that little bit of info.  :-)

Fuzzy Butterfly

Hi everyone!  Sorry I haven't been around for a bit.  I was away this past weekend on a shopping trip to Bangor, ME.  Had a great time and got a lot of crafty goodies, some clothes and some things for our bathroom renovation (tiles, grout, new bathroom fan).  :-). Anyway, I've got a card to share today that I'm quite pleased with the results.

I decided to try the embossing paste with a stencil (mini circles by The Crafter's Workshop).  Unfortunately, I didn't have any embossing paste so I looked around my craft area and my gaze landed upon some textured snow.  Probably not what they intended it be used for but I figured couldn't hurt to try.  And it worked just fine!  It has a subtle glitter too but it's impossible to see it in the picture.  Then I used a digi image of a butterfly (Floppy Latte's Digital Designs) which I coloured with my Spectrum Noir markers (OR2, CT3, GB5, True Black) and then fussy cut out.  You see how the butterfly looks all fuzzy and velvety?  I added some black flocking powder to the black parts of the butterfly.  Not too difficult using a Zig fine tip glue pen.  I wanted it to seem like a real butterfly.  Then I added a little white banner with a sentiment (STAMPlorations) and a die cut from a scrap of metallic green cardstock.  I attached the butterfly with some glossy accents only on the body part so the wings would be lifted.
