Little Yellow Birdie

Hello everyone!  It's been a while since I've posted!  Busy summer fun.  :-). Anyway, I've got a card to share today using a digi stamp by TAWS (The Alley Way Stamps).  They have some super cute stamps and they also provide some free digi stamps.  I wanted to play along in their current "Be Inspired #33" challenge so I was happy to find the freebies.  :-).   Here's their inspiration photo.

Doesn't it just make you want to create something?  I originally was going to do something Christmas related but ended up doing something else.  I've always wanted to make a yellow Christmas card.  Mostly because yellow is just not the colour you think of when it comes to Christmas.  I may still do something later.  Anyway, here's my card.

Isn't that little birdie so cute?!  The sentiment is a free digi from TAWS too.  Once I had printed them off, I coloured the bird with my Spectrum Noir markers and then fussy cut it out.  I matted the sentiment on grey cardstock and added some white glitter (Elmer's).  I used my Zig two way glue pen for that.  I love that glue pen.  :-). Once I attached that to my white card base I adhered the bird with some foam dots.  I added the yellow ribbon at the bottom.  It's funny about the ribbon.  I realized when making this card that I don't have a single piece of yellow ribbon.  I had white though and so I coloured it with one of my alcohol markers.  It works great!  :-).  My husband looked at me funny when I told him and said why didn't I just buy some yellow ribbon?  Um, here I thought he'd like my frugalness.  LOL.  If I'd only known!  :-)

Anyhow, I'm going to link this card up at Addicted to CAS as well.  Their code word is glitter.  I do like me some glitter.  :-).

Well, that's all I've got for now.  Have a great day!

  3. Kim I love your card. It is so bright and happy. Love that pop of yellow. Your style of CAS cards are amazing and something I don't do very well I am afraid. Wish that I could forget about using to many distress inks and such but I am too addicted. Lol. I want to say Big Congrats on being in the Top 20 for Gallery Idol. WOW. That should have knocked your socks off!! Lol. I tried a couple of times and nothing that I did ever seemed good enough. So I stopped trying. Oh well, I guess it all has to do with what they are looking for at the time or the trends of the day. I am sooooooo happy that a fellow NB'er got their foot in the door and almost won. Wishing that you did, but this is a big accomplishment as well because I am sure that there were 1000's of entries for sure. So happy that you like our Flickr group, I haven't been over there much for a long time, but have been popping bye a little lately. There are some pretty amazing ladies in that group. Some that will be friends for ever. Only problem is I wish that I could meet them. From the looks of this blog you have been super busy creating and winning. Congrats to you. Hoping that you are all safe and dry down in your part of NB. So much damage being done during all these down pours of rain. Thinking about you sweetie and praying that nothing happens to your family and your property. I guess I better get going. Just wanted to let you know that I am now following you as well. I actually thought that I did already. So much to see here and love what your creting. Keep it up. Chat with you later. Hugs.

  5. I love that you are out enjoying the summer fun, Kim! And I love your adorable card! You could use that ezack layout only with 'merry christmas' and a yellow santa hat ... or something. Well, that's something I might do CASEing your LO, anyway. You are so creative you don't need my help coming up with a yellow Christmas card!! What am I thinking?!
