Let's Celebrate!

Hi!  So this time I'm not waiting a week and a half to do another post!  :-). I've got a quick and easy card that you could use for almost any occasion.  In this case I made a birthday card.

So, I stamped my bubble circle (Neat and Tangled from Party Dots set) three times along the edge of my card.  I used three colours of StazOn ink, Olive, Dove Gray and Royal Purple.  Then I stamped my sentiment in Jet Black.  The sentiment is made up from three stamps.  The  " Let's Celebrate" is by Neat and Tangled also from the same set.  The "Its Your" and "Birthday" are from two different stamps by Scrappy Cat.  I performed al little surgery on them to get the words I wanted.  Have you ever done that with your clear stamps?  Cut a part off to separate the part you want to make stamping it easier?  The first time feels so wrong but it works so well!  It gets easier each time you do it.  :-). As you can see I made a matching envelope for the card too.

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

The Card Concept - make a birthday card.  I suppose this falls under the clean and graphic category.  :-). Could be clean and simple too though.
Little Tangles - "don't forget the envelope". (Make a matching envelope)

Well, all for now.  Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by!

It's been too long!

Oh my goodness!  It's been way too long since I last posted!  Sorry about that.  You know how life sometimes gets in the way.  Plus, I've been using any spare time I have for crafting to work on submissions for the current call at Paper Crafts.  I'm making Halloween cards.  :-).  So fun!  Anyway, I finally got a chance to make a card for a few challenges.  Since the snow just won't go away it's a Christmas card.  Well, I would have made it regardless of the snow.  :-).  Speaking of snow we are going to have a blizzard today.  At the end of March!!  We haven't had a blizzard all winter.  What is up with this weather?!  So. Tired. Of. Snow.  Anyway, back to a more pleasant subject.  Here's my card..

So, I used some hoarded birch bark paper I got from Michaels and stamped my evergreen bough (Inkadinkado) several times in forest moss distress ink and mellow moss dye ink by SU!.  Then I added some highlighting and shading using my white gel pen and and a dark green alcohol marker.  Next I stamped my sentiment (Hero Arts) in black StazOn.  I used two of my clear snowflakes from my box that I found at the Dollarama.  I added some clear glitter to the top and using an oil base sharpie pen coloured the bottom silver.  This made it show up a bit more.  Once I attached my panel to my brown card base and adhered the snowflakes I felt like it was missing something.  So I added a bit of jute twine to the bottom.  Quite pleased with the results.

I am linking up to the following challenges:

Festive Friday #27 - here's the inspiration photo.  It's so pretty!

Jingle Belles - the theme is "the Holly and the ivy". Create a card with any kind of festive foliage.
Addicted to Stamps and More - it's their "Holiday" challenge again.

That's all for now.  I'm going to try and get into my craft room and make some more cards.  Thanks for visiting and hope you have a blizzard free day!

Blue Skies Ahead

Here's hoping there are some blue skies and sunshine ahead.  What a miserable day out today.  School was cancelled due to the weather and so we are stuck inside.  Donovan is happily playing his Lego Star Wars game at the moment but his time is almost up.  I'm sure he'll end up playing with his Star Wars toys right after.  LOL.  We've created a Star Wars monster.  Of course, we are actually proud of this.  :-).

Anyway, I've got a card to share today that will hopefully, pick your spirits up out of the doldrums that this years winter weather has most likely created.

I used a sun digi stamp by Paper Smooches and the clouds are from PS as well from the Eco Friendly set.  I used some leftover paper I had that was made with alcohol inks for the clouds.  I coloured the sun with my Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut it and the clouds out.  I arranged them how I wanted on my white cardstock panel and adhered them on.  I raised the one cloud on top with some foam dots.  Then I stamped the sentiment which is from a camping set by Inkadinkado.  Lastly, I adhered my panel to my white card base with some foam dots.

I'm linking this up to the following challenges:

CAS-ual Fridays - "shades of grey" challenge.
STAMPlorations - monthly challenge for March is "stamps and spring".  This was certainly made with Spring in mind.  :-)
Addicted to Stamps and More - "anything goes" challenge.
Fusion Card Challenge -

I used the sketch only for inspiration.

Well, that's it for today.  Hope the weather is nicer wherever you are and thanks for visiting!

Shades of Gray

So, I've been dying to play along with CAS-ual Fridays new and improved challenge and I finally got a chance to today.  Despite a severe lack of sleep, I enjoyed my crafty time.  Why did I have a lack of sleep?  My son kept waking up all night due to an ear ache.  We finally just ended up downstairs at around 4:30am. Apparently his cold that seemed to be getting better decided to rear it's ugly head again.  Sort of like the weather around here.  We are in for a nasty storm tonight and tomorrow.  Boo. In any case, after a nice warm compress my son's ear stopped hurting and he seems okay.  I kept him home just in case.  He had no fever so hopefully no ear infection will occur.  Anyway, that's why I'm tired.  And my cold isn't going away either which is no fun.  But making some cards always makes me feel better! :-)

Okay, the card.  Recently I've been playing around with my alcohol markers.  I got some of my refills I ordered so was able to refill my drying out ones.  :-).

So, I've played around with my gray markers (Spectrum Noir BGR1 & 3) and some isopropyl alcohol.  I used some glossy paper by Ranger and made a cool splotchy effect.  I used my Slice die cutter and cut the word "happy" out.  I took a panel of white cardstock and stamped the medallion (SU!) in Canary yellow (Color Box).  Then I stamped the "anniversary" (an old stamp by All Night Media) in black on the die cut happy and on the medallion panel.  Then lined the die cut up and attached it.  I added some sequins (Neat and Tangled) and put my panel on a white card base with some foam dots.  This is going to be for my inlaws who celebrate their 47th anniversary this year.  :-)

Like I mentioned above, I'm linking up to CAS-ual Fridays challenge which is "shades of gray".  Also, linking up to Addicted to Stamps and More where it's "anything goes" this week.

Well, I'm hoping that these colds we have will clear up soon so I can get back to some serious card making!  :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

Watercolour Flowers

Hello!  Another card using the watercolouring technique.  I used the embossing in white resist technique again as well.  This time I used watercolour pencils though.  Here's my card...

I used watercolour paper again for the background part.  First stamping with the flower stamp (Hero Arts), embossing in white then playing around with the water colours until I liked it.  What I did was colour with the pencils on a separate piece of paper first the watered them down to transfer the colour to my panel.  While this was drying I stamped the same floral stamp using my black StazOn ink and this time coloured in the flower directly then adding water carefully, blending the colours.    Then I just stamped my sentiment (Fiskars) and attached this panel to my other watercoloured one.  I put that on a card base made of Whirlpool (Bazill Basics) cardstock.

Once again I'm linking up to Virginia's View challenge.  Also linking up to STAMPlorations where they've got sketch challenge #7 going on.

Also linking up to Hero Arts birthday challenge.  This would fall under the floral birthday category.  Lastly linking up to Curtain Call.  Haven't played in a while but there inspiration photo helped me choose the colours of my card.

Well, that's all for now.  Hope you have an awesome day and thanks for visiting!

Family is Like Fudge

Yes, another card!  And not the last one today either.  :-).  Recently a fellow blogger started a new challenge.  Virginia of Yes, Virginia started a challenge blog called Virginia's View.  The challenge was to try the technique of watercoloring.  This card was done using some distress inks like watercolors.

Isn't that stamp funny?  I got it from my Mom.  It's by Momenta.  The background was basically done by using a brush with the inks (broken china and forest moss) and lots of water.  I basically just played around until I liked it.  I first stamped the sentiment and embossed in white.  I added the mustache in black after it dried as it amused me.  The mustache stamp is from Michaels.  I have to say it was a lot of fun playing around with this technique.  I encourage you all to try it!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Gingerbread

Hi there!  I've got a card to share today and some happy news!  First the card.  I made this with two challenges in mind.  First is Festive Friday.  They've got a delicious inspiration photo.  :-). Second is Merry Monday Christmas Challenge.  It's a great challenge which involves stitches and buttons.

(Festive Friday)

Great inspiration photo, aren't they?  Want to see what they inspired me to make?  Here ya go!

Don't you just love the gingerbread man stamp?  It's by Hero Arts.  I stamped and then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Markers then cut him out.  Added some patterned paper (from Michaels) and some red and medium teal (Bazill Basics) cardstock to a cream card base.  I punched some stitching holes in the red paper and stitched my blue and white twine through, making a double bow at the end.  Hard to see in the photo (as usual) but there is glitter on his Santa hat.  Hope you like it!

As for my happy news, I found out on Thursday that the card I had submitted to a Paper Crafts Magazine's recent call for submissions was accepted!  Yay!  Another card to be published.  Can't show you until it comes out in September though.  Let's just say it's pretty cute!  :-)

Anyway, that it for my news.  Stayed tuned for more posts as I have more cards to share!  Thanks for visiting!

Thinking of You

So, it's been a little while since my last post and that's because I've been busy making cards for the current call for submissions over at PaperCrafts.  Right now it's for their Holiday Cards and more issue.  I'd love to have one of my Christmas cards published in that issue!  So far I've made 4 cards and 2 tags.  Anyway, wish me luck!  :-)

Today's card is really pretty simple but I love the quiet elegance of it.  Could also be used as a birthday card or even a sympathy card.  I love when cards turn out to be versatile!

So, all I did was stamp my flourish (by Stampendous from the jumbo poinsettia set) in black on my white card base several times.  Then I added some black ribbon and a bow.  Next I stamped my sentiment (Fiskars from the simple expressions set) in black.  Lastly I added a vintage button to the bow.  Buttons were so pretty back then.

Now, I'm a bit late with this but I'd like to welcome a new follower!  A very warm welcome to Kristie Goulet of Kreative Kristie!  If you haven't seen her blog or cards before please go check them out!  She's a very talented card designer.  :-)

Well, thanks for stopping by and hope you have a lovely day!
